Khadanour Lajaei (Lojai), born on September 30, 1995, was a resident of Zahedan who was killed a day after the Zahedan Bloody Friday during the 2022 Iranian uprising after being arrested by military officers.
Khadanour was Baloch and Sunni. He lived in the Shirabad neighborhood of Zahedan and was marginalized without any identification documents. Khadanour had eight sisters, one of whom died at the age of 21 following his death. He was engaged and worked in plastering. He was an influencer with many followers on Instagram. After his death, his dance videos, which he had previously posted on his Instagram account, gained widespread attention on social media.
According to his sister, Khadanour was arrested in July 2022 for "arguing" with a Basiji and was released on bail in October. The Public Prosecutor of the Islamic Revolution in Zahedan told Fars News Agency that he "had a history of 16 armed robberies." A photo of him during his detention with his hands tied to a flagpole and a cup of water placed in front of him was widely shared on Iranian social media and inspired the creation of artistic works such as the Tehran Political Alley signpost or a performance at the entrance of McGill University in Canada.
Khadanour was arrested due to a confrontation with the child of a Basiji and was tied to a flagpole from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. by security officers, beaten, and his hand-tied photo was published to humiliate him. Khadanour's relatives and friends managed to have him transferred to prison by bribing the officers, and he was released after a month.
According to the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Sistan and Baluchestan, he was "Sadegh Kabdani," known as "Khadanour Lajaei," an Afghan national who was arrested for theft in July 2022 and released on bail in October 2022.
During the nationwide protests of 2022, Khadanour was shot in the kidney area on October 1 and transferred to the Social Security Hospital in Zahedan. However, he was denied treatment there and died on October 2, on his 27th birthday.
According to an unnamed resident of the neighborhood, when Khadanour and his friends heard gunfire, they went to the shooting location. At that moment, he was shot and requested to be taken to the hospital because "my mother and sister have no one but me." After Khadanour's death, one of his sisters suffered a heart attack and passed away.
The government narrative is different. Mehdi Shamsabadi, the Public Prosecutor of the Islamic Revolution in Zahedan, stated on November 10, 2022, in Fars News Agency regarding Khadanour Lajaei: "Khadanour Lajaei had a history of 16 armed robberies and was killed on October 2 during another robbery in an armed confrontation with officers. The circumstances of Lajaei's death are under investigation in the province's judiciary."
On November 9, 2022, coinciding with the fortieth day of the Zahedan Bloody Friday victims, protesters tied their hands to poles in the street, recreating his torture image as a form of protest. In Sattarkhan Street, Tehran, people chanted, "Khadanour was killed by a few mercenaries." A student in front of the Basij building at Tabriz University of Art kept his memory alive with a protest performance.
The published image of Khadanour in detention with his hands tied to a flagpole and a cup of water in front of him was widely shared in society and on Iranian social media, inspiring numerous cultural and artistic activities, including:
- A symbolic dance by a girl in traditional Baloch attire in Azadi Square, Tehran
- A protest performance by a student at Tabriz University of Art in memory of Khadanour
- Hashem Shirali, a player for the Futsal team Foolad Zarand Iranians, scored twice for his team on Friday, November 11, and each time recreated the famous image of Khadanour's torture instead of celebrating. This sports competition was broadcast live on state media, and Mr. Shirali's gesture quickly gained national attention.
- Iranians in Berlin gathered at the Brandenburg Gate in protest of the killing of citizens in Sistan and Baluchestan, and one of the attendees performed a dance similar to the video released of Khadanour Lajaei.
- Amirhossein Elahyari, a poet and playwright, wrote a poem inspired by Khadanour and shared it on his Instagram page on November 8, 2022:
In my chest, there's the air of an evening plain
In my heart, the strange tune of a tribe
My head spins and my ears seem
Filled with the neighs of a noble horse
See the pulse of its hoofbeats in my veins
Don't say your heart is heartless!
The longing for desert soil in my fist
The sight of the Nile Sea in my eyes
My mood is so heavy as if
In my heart, Khadanour is tied to a pole!
On November 27, 2022, an ice sculpture of Khadanour Lajaei was unveiled in front of the Chicago Art Institute.
خدانور لجه ای (لُجعی) متولد ۱۰ مهر ۱۳۷۴ از اهالی زاهدان بود که یک روز پس از جمعه خونین زاهدان و در جریان خیزش ۱۴۰۱ ایران که پس از دستگیری توسط مأموران نظامی کشته شد.
خدانور بلوچ و سنی مذهب بود. او در محله شیرآباد زاهدان ساکن و حاشیه نشین بود و مدارک هویتی نداشت. خدانور هشت خواهر داشت که یکی از آن ها در ۲۱ سالگی به دنبال کشته شدن او درگذشت. او نامزد داشت و در گچ کاری کار می کرد. او یک اینفلوئنسر بود و دنبال کنندگان زیادی در اینستاگرام داشت. پس از کشته شدنش، ویدئوهای رقص او که پیش تر آنها را در حساب اینستاگرام خود منتشر کرده بود، به طور گسترده در رسانه های اجتماعی مورد توجه قرار گرفت.
به گفتهٔ خواهرش، خدانور به دلیل «بگومگو» با یک بسیجی در تیر ۱۴۰۱ بازداشت و در مهر با قرار وثیقه آزاد شد. دادستان عمومی انقلاب اسلامی زاهدان در مصاحبه با خبرگزاری فارس گفت که او «سابقه ۱۶ فقره سرقت مسلحانه داشته» است. انتشار تصویری از او در دوران بازداشت در حالی که دستانش به یک میله پرچم بسته شده و لیوانی آب در برابرش قرار داشت در شبکه های اجتماعی ایرانی مورد بازتاب گسترده ای قرار گرفت و الهام بخش تولید کارهای هنری همچون میلهٔ تابلوی کوچه سیاسی تهران یا پرفورمنس در ورودی دانشگاه مک گیل کانادا شد.
خدانور به علت درگیری با فرزند یک بسیجی دستگیر شد و با رشوه خانوادهٔ آن بسیجی به مأموران آگاهی، توسط مأموران انتظامی از ساعت دو شب تا هفت صبح به میله پرچم بسته شد، مورد ضرب و شتم قرار گرفت و تصویر دست بسته او نیز برای تحقیر منتشر شد. اقوام و دوستان خدانور، با رشوه به مأموران امکان انتقال او به زندان را فراهم کردند و وی بعد از یک ماه آزاد شد.
به ادعای دادستان عمومی و انقلاب مرکز سیستان و بلوچستان، او «صادق کبدانی» و مشهور به «خدا نور لجه ای» تبعه افغانستان بود که به جرم سرقت در تیرماه ۱۴۰۱ بازداشت و در مهرماه ۱۴۰۱ با قرار وثیقه آزاد شده بود.
در جریان اعتراضات سراسری ۱۴۰۱، خدانور در ۹ مهر از ناحیهٔ کلیه مورد اصابت گلوله قرار گرفت و به بیمارستان تأمین اجتماعی زاهدان منتقل شد، ولی در آنجا از درمان او امتناع شد و در ۱۰ مهر و در روز تولد ۲۷ سالگی اش، درگذشت.
به گفتهٔ یکی از ساکنان محله که نامش فاش نشده است، خدانور و دوستانش هنگامی که صدای تیراندازی می شنوند، به مکان تیراندازی می روند. در همان لحظه گلوله به او اصابت می کند و درخواست دارد که او را به بیمارستان برسانند چرا که «مادر و خواهرم غیر من کسی را ندارند.» پس از مرگ خدانور یکی از خواهرانش دچار حمله قلبی شد و درگذشت.
روایت حکومتی در این زمینه چیز دیگری است. مهدی شمس آبادی، دادستان عمومی انقلاب اسلامی زاهدان، ۱۹ آبان ماه جاری در خبرگزاری فارس در خصوص خدانور لجه ای عنوان کرده بود: «خدانور لجه ای سابقه ۱۶ فقره سرقت مسلحانه داشته و دهم مهر حین یک سرقت دیگر در درگیری مسلحانه با مأموران کشته شده است. چگونگی کشته شدن لجه ای در دستگاه قضایی استان در حال بررسی است.»
۱۸ آبان ۱۴۰۱ و همزمان با چهلم قربانیان جمعه خونین زاهدان، مردم معترض با بستن دست خود به میله هایی در خیابان، تصویر شکنجه او را بازسازی کرده و به این شکل اعتراضشان را نشان دادند. در خیابان ستارخان تهران مردم شعار «کشته شده خدانور، به دست چندتا مزدور» سر دادند. دانشجویی نیز در مقابل ساختمان بسیج دانشگاه هنر تبریز با پرفورمانس اعتراضی یاد او را زنده نگه داشت.
تصویر منتشرشده از خدانور در بازداشت درحالی که دستانش به یک میله پرچم بسته شده بود و لیوانی آب در برابرش قرار داشت، در جامعه و نیز در شبکه های اجتماعی ایرانی مورد بازتاب گسترده ای قرار گرفت و الهام بخش تولید آثار و فعالیت های فرهنگی و هنری متعددی شد، از جمله:

پرفورمنس اعتراضی دانشجوی دانشگاه هنر تبریز در یادبود خدانور
هاشم شیرعلی، بازیکن تیم فوتسال فولاد زرند ایرانیان در روز جمعه ۲۰ آبان دوبار برای تیمش گل زد و هر بار به جای خوشحالی تصویر معروف شکنجه خدانور را بازسازی کرد. این رقابت ورزشی از رسانه های دولتی به شکل زنده پخش شد و این حرکت آقای شیرعلی به سرعت بازتاب ملی پیدا کرد.
ایرانیان برلین در اعتراض به کشتار شهروندان در سیستان و بلوچستان در دروازه براندنبورگ این شهر تجمع کردند و یکی از حاضران با لباس بلوچی رقصی شبیه ویدیوی منتشرشده از خدانور لجه ای را اجراکرد.
امیرحسین الهیاری، شاعر و نمایش نامه نویس، شعری با الهام از خدانور سرود و هفدهم آبان ۱۴۰۱ آنرا در صفحه اینستاگرامش هم رسانی کرد:
تو سینه م هوای غروبِ یه دشته تو قلبم نوای غریبِ یه ایله
سرم داره می چرخه و گوشم انگار پر از شیهه های یه اسبِ اصیله
تو رگ های من نبضِ سُمضربه هاشُ ببین و نگو دل دلت بی دلیله!
تمنای خاکِ بیابون تو مُشتم تو چشمام تماشای دریای نیله
یه جوری گرفته ست حالم که انگار تو قلبم خدانورُ بستن به میله!
بیست و هفتم نوامبر ۲۰۲۲ از مجسمه یخی خدانور لجه ای در روبه روی ساختمان هنر شیکاگو رونمایی شد.
