Less than a day after reports and warnings about the imminent execution of Ashkan Maleki and Mehrdad Mohammadi-Nia, Mizan News Agency, affiliated with the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, announced the execution of these two prisoners. They were arrested after the December 2025 protests and sentenced to death in a case known as the "Jafari Mosque" case.

The case involved three defendants: Ashkan Maleki, Mehrdad Mohammadi-Nia, and Arman Marefati. They were arrested after the December 2025 protests and prosecuted in connection with "the arson and destruction of Jafari Mosque and Imam Hadi Seminary in Koy Nasr, Tehran."
Government-affiliated media had previously claimed that Ashkan Maleki and Mehrdad Mohammadi-Nia were involved in actions such as setting fire to a motorcycle in the mosque's courtyard, destroying public property, and other activities. Mizan News Agency reiterated these allegations in its report on the execution.
However, the proceedings in this case lacked fair trial standards, and the defendants were denied the right to choose their own lawyers, with the case being based on forced confessions.

رسانه های حکومتی پیش تر اعلام کرده بودند که اشکان مالکی و مهرداد محمدی نیا در اقداماتی از جمله آتش زدن یک موتورسیکلت در محوطه مسجد و تخریب اموال عمومی نقش داشته اند. خبرگزاری میزان نیز در گزارش مربوط به اجرای حکم، این اتهامات را تکرار کرده است.
گزارش ها حاکی از آن است که روند رسیدگی به این پرونده فاقد معیارهای دادرسی عادلانه بوده و متهمان از داشتن وکیل انتخابی محروم بوده اند و پرونده بر اساس اعترافات اجباری تنظیم شده است.
