The Iranian judiciary announced that the execution of Javad Zamani and Abolfazl Saeedi, two individuals detained during the protests of December 2025, was carried out on 16 June 2026. They were charged with "corruption on earth."
According to the judiciary's news agency, Mizan, the head of the Semnan Province Justice Department stated that the executed individuals were charged with "waging war against God and corruption on earth through the use of firearms and cold weapons, intentional destruction of public and private property with the intent to oppose the Islamic Republic of Iran, and disrupting public order and security, as well as gathering and conspiring to commit crimes against the country's internal security."
Mohammad Sadegh Akbari, the head of the Semnan Province Justice Department, indicated that Javad Zamani and Abolfazl Saeedi committed these crimes in December 2025 by "exploiting the demands and protests of certain segments of society" and in line with "American-Zionist objectives."
The judiciary reported that these two individuals created insecurity in Shahroud by "breaking equipment and doors of several bank branches, causing chaos and riots in front of the governor's office, overturning a police vehicle and participating in setting it on fire, attacking homes, destroying vehicles, and engaging in other criminal activities."
According to Mr. Akbari, the case of these two individuals "reached the execution stage after completing all legal procedures in the investigation and preliminary branches of this county and the Supreme Court." The judiciary did not release photos of the two individuals but published a video labeled as their "confessions," in which their faces were blurred and voices altered.
The judicial official stated that the defendants, after being sentenced to "execution and confiscation of all movable and immovable assets," appealed the verdict, but the Supreme Court rejected the appeal and upheld the initial sentence.
The trial was conducted in the first branch of the Revolutionary Court in Shahroud and was marked by the denial of access to a chosen lawyer, lack of transparency, and reliance on forced confessions. This execution occurred within the context of a widespread wave of sentences following the December protests.
Abolfazl Saeedi, a single high school graduate born in 2002 in Shahroud, was arrested by security forces on 21 January 2026 during the nationwide protests of December 2025. He was prosecuted alongside Javad Zamani in a joint case.
قوه قضائیه ایران اعلام کرد که حکم اعدام جواد زمانی و ابوالفضل ساعدی، دو نفر از بازداشت شدگان اعتراضات دی ماه ۱۴۰۴، به جرم «افساد فی الارض» روز ۲۶ خرداد ۱۴۰۵ اجرا شد.
میزان، خبرگزاری قوه قضائیه، به نقل از رئیس کل دادگستری استان سمنان، جرم اعدام شدگان را «محاربه و افساد فی الارض از طریق کشیدن سلاح گرم و سرد، تخریب عمدی اموال عمومی و خصوصی به قصد مقابله با نظام جمهوری اسلامی ایران و اخلال در نظم و امنیت جامعه، اجتماع و تبانی برای ارتکاب جرم علیه امنیت داخلی کشور» اعلام کرده است.
محمدصادق اکبری، رئیس کل دادگستری استان سمنان، گفت که جواد زمانی و ابوالفضل ساعدی در دی ۱۴۰۴ «با سوءاستفاده از مطالبات و اعتراضات برخی اقشار جامعه» و در راستای اهداف آمریکایی-صهیونی» مرتکب این جرایم شدند.
قوه قضائیه گفت که این دو نفر در شاهرود با «شکستن تجهیزات و درب چند شعبه بانک، ایجاد آشوب و شورش در مقابل فرمانداری، واژگون کردن خودروی پلیس و مشارکت در آتش زدن آن، حمله به منزال و تخریب خودرو و انجام سایر اقدامات مجرمانه» ایجاد ناامنی کرده اند.
به گفته آقای اکبری، پرونده این دو نفر «پس از طی تمامی مراحل قانونی در شعب تحقیق و بدوی این شهرستان و دیوان عالی کشور» به مرحله اجرای حکم رسید.
قوه قضائیه از این دو نفر عکسی منتشر نکرده اما ویدیویی به عنوان «اعترافات» آنها منتشر کرده که چهره شان تار و صدایشان تغییر داده شده است.
به گفته این مقام قضائی، متهمان پس از محکوم شدن به «اعدام و ضبط کلیه اموال و دارائی های منقول و غیرمنقول» به این حکم اعتراض کردند اما دیوان عالی درخواست فرجام خواهی را مردود دانست و حکم اولیه را تایید کرد.
دادرسی در شعبه اول دادگاه انقلاب شاهرود انجام شد و با محرومیت از وکیل انتخابی، عدم شفافیت و اتکا به اعترافات اجباری همراه بود. این اعدام در چارچوب موج گسترده احکام پس از اعتراضات دی ماه انجام گرفت.
ابوالفضل ساعدی، شهروند دیپلمه مجرد متولد ۱۳۸۱ در شاهرود، روز اول بهمن ۱۴۰۴ توسط نیروهای امنیتی در جریان اعتراضات سراسری دی ماه ۱۴۰۴ دستگیر شده بود. وی به همراه جواد زمانی در یک پرونده مشترک تحت تعقیب قضایی قرار گرفت.
