Soheila Mohammadi, a political prisoner, has sewn her lips together and gone on a hunger strike at Urmia Central Prison in protest against her conditions. Despite having served three years of her five-year sentence, she remains deprived of the right to leave and conditional release.
In March 2023, she attempted suicide due to pressure from security agencies and obstacles in obtaining leave and pardon, but was saved by the timely intervention of her fellow inmates. Soheila Mohammadi was arrested in 2020 by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the city of Salmas and was sentenced to five years in prison by the Urmia Revolutionary Court on charges of membership in the Free Life Party of Kurdistan. Since then, she has been held in the women's ward of Urmia Central Prison.
سهیلا محمدی، زندانی سیاسی، در زندان مرکزی ارومیه در اعتراض به شرایط خود لب هایش را دوخته و دست به اعتصاب غذا زده است. این زندانی سیاسی با وجود گذراندن سه سال از محکومیت پنج ساله خود، همچنان از حق مرخصی و آزادی مشروط محروم است.
در اسفندماه 1401، او به دلیل فشار نهادهای امنیتی و موانع در اعطای مرخصی و عفو، اقدام به خودکشی کرد که با اقدام به موقع هم بندی هایش نجات یافت. سهیلا محمدی از سال 1399 توسط نیروهای اطلاعات سپاه پاسداران در شهر سلماس بازداشت و در دادگاه انقلاب ارومیه به اتهام عضویت در حزب حیات آزاد کردستان به پنج سال زندان تعزیری محکوم شد و از آن زمان در بند زنان زندان مرکزی ارومیه نگهداری می شود.
