Majid Jamshidzadeh, a student who began his studies in 2022, was arrested by government forces during public protests at Haft Hoz Square in Tehran on 2 January 2026.
This industrial design student from Iran University of Science and Technology, who was among those detained during the protests in December of the previous year, has been sentenced by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to five years of imprisonment. The sentence was issued by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court in March of the previous year and has been communicated to the student, who is currently held in Greater Tehran Prison.
The judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran has charged him with "assembly and collusion with the intent to disrupt national security" and "disrupting public order."
It has been reported that the case is currently referred for reconsideration to one of the branches of the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeals, and the student's family and lawyer are awaiting the final verdict.
مجید جمشیدزاده، دانشجوی ورودی سال ۱۴۰۱، در تاریخ ۱۲ دی ۱۴۰۴ در جریان اعتراضات مردمی در میدان هفت حوض تهران توسط نیروهای حکومتی بازداشت شد.
این دانشجوی رشته طراحی صنعتی دانشگاه علم و صنعت تهران، از بازداشت شدگان اعتراضات دی ماه سال گذشته، توسط دستگاه قضایی جمهوری اسلامی ایران به ۵ سال حبس تعزیری محکوم شده است. حکم مذکور اسفندماه سال گذشته توسط شعبه ۱۵ دادگاه انقلاب تهران صادر و به این دانشجو که هم اکنون در زندان تهران بزرگ محبوس است، ابلاغ شده است.
دستگاه قضایی جمهوری اسلامی ایران اتهامات وی را «اجتماع و تبانی به قصد برهم زدن امنیت ملی» و «برهم زدن نظم عمومی» عنوان کرده است.
گزارش شده است که در حال حاضر پرونده جهت رسیدگی مجدد به یکی از شعب دادگاه تجدیدنظر استان تهران ارجاع شده و خانواده و وکیل این دانشجو در انتظار صدور رای قطعی هستند.
