Sasan Azadvar Jonqani, a resident of Isfahan, who was arrested during the protests in December of the previous year, was executed in the early hours of Thursday, 10 Ordibehesht, at Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. A source close to the family of this political prisoner reported that his burial ceremony was held on Thursday afternoon under tight security, with only ten family members permitted to attend.
The judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated that Sasan Azadvar Jonqani attacked a minibus carrying officers with stones and clubs during the December protests, breaking vehicle windows and throwing stones and bricks at the officers, with the intent of overthrowing the government.
The Iranian judiciary also stated that he had confessed to telling those around him before attending the gatherings that he intended to be present in the streets with the aim of overthrowing the regime and had "invited" his friends to participate in the protests.
ساسان آزادوار جونقانی، جوان ساکن اصفهان که در جریان اعتراضات دی ماه گذشته بازداشت شده بود، بامداد روز پنجشنبه دهم اردیبهشت ماه در زندان دستگرد اصفهان اعدام شد. یک منبع نزدیک به خانواده این زندانی سیاسی گفت که مراسم خاکسپاری او ظهر پنجشنبه در «فضایی امنیتی» برگزار شده و «فقط به ۱۰ نفر از بستگانش» اجازه حضور داده شده است.
قوه قضائیه جمهوری اسلامی ایران می گوید که ساسان آزادوار جونقانی در جریان اعتراضات دی ماه به قصد «براندازی» حکومت، «با سنگ و چماق به مینی بوس حامل ماموران حمله کرده است و شیشه های خودروها را شکسته است و به ماموران سنگ و آجر پرت کرده است.»
قوه قضائیه ایران می گوید که او اعتراف کرده است که پیش از حضور در تجمعات به اطرافیانش گفته بوده که با هدف براندازی نظام در خیابان حاضر خواهد شد و از دوستانش هم «دعوت» کرد که در اعتراضات شرکت کنند.
