He was shot dead by the Islamic Republic’s security forces on Friday, 19 Dey 1404 (9 January 2026), during the Iranian year 1404 (2025/26) nationwide uprising.

Sajjad Pourhosseini was killed by live ammunition during protests in Rasht, Gilan Province, on 9 January 2026. Reports indicate that government forces shot him in the thigh. The incident occurred from a location above a bank opposite the Chahar Baradaran Mosque on Motahari Street in Rasht.

During the suppression of the protests, Sajjad Pourhosseini's family lost contact with him. A couple present at the protests took him with them and attempted to take him to a clinic, but no clinic accepted him. Eventually, Sajjad was returned to his home.

His family then transferred him to Qaem Hospital in Rasht, but he passed away upon arrival. To receive his body and conduct the burial, his family provided a bond of one billion tomans. His body was buried on 13 January 2026.

خانواده او سپس او را به بیمارستان قایم رشت منتقل کردند، اما او به محض رسیدن به بیمارستان جان باخت. برای تحویل پیکر سجاد پورحسنی و انجام خاکسپاری، خانواده اش سندی به مبلغ یک میلیارد تومان گرو گذاشتند. پیکر او در تاریخ 23 دی 1404 به خاک سپرده شد.
