The body of Sepideh Farahan, a former political prisoner and protester from December 2017, was found at her home in Karaj. The cause of her death remains unknown. Sepideh Farahan had been imprisoned for one and a half years in Evin and Qarchak Varamin prisons on charges of assembly and collusion to act against national security.
Reports indicate that her lifeless body was discovered with signs of bleeding from her mouth and nose. After her arrest in December 2017 at Enghelab Square, she was held in temporary detention for forty-six days. During this period, she was given pills, the nature of which remains unclear, and her mental health was reportedly not in a good state after her release.
Sepideh Farahan spent nearly two years in Evin and Qarchak prisons from December 2019 to July 2021. After her release, she left the country once and spent eight months in Turkey before returning to Iran.
It has been reported that she spoke about the dire conditions in Qarchak Varamin prison, highlighting the lack of facilities and the inhumane jobs prisoners are forced to undertake for meagre earnings. According to her, the suffering of prisoners in the general wards of Qarchak prison is denied, and their human identity is stripped away.
پیکر سپیده فرهان، زندانی سیاسی سابق و از معترضان دی 1396، در منزلش در کرج پیدا شد. علت مرگ او هنوز مشخص نیست. سپیده فرهان به اتهام اجتماع و تبانی برای اقدام علیه امنیت ملی یک سال و نیم در زندان های اوین و قرچک ورامین زندانی بود.
گزارش شده است که پیکر بی جان او در حالی پیدا شد که آثار خونریزی از دهان و بینی او مشهود بوده است. پس از بازداشت او در دی ماه 1396 در میدان انقلاب، او مدت چهل و شش روز در بازداشت موقت بوده است. در این مدت به او قرص هایی داده شده که مشخص نیست چه داروهایی بوده و پس از آزادی از نظر سلامت روان در وضعیت مناسبی نبوده است.
سپیده فرهان از دی ماه 1398 تا تیرماه 1400 نزدیک به دو سال را در زندان های اوین و قرچک سپری کرد. پس از آزادی، او یک بار از کشور خارج شده و مدت هشت ماه را در ترکیه گذراند اما دوباره به ایران بازگشت.
گزارش شده است که او از شرایط بسیار ناگوار زندان قرچک ورامین، از فقدان امکانات تا شغل های غیرانسانی که زندانیان برای داشتن درآمدی ناچیز به آنها تن می دهند، صحبت کرده است. به گفته او، رنج زندانیان بندهای عمومی زندان قرچک انکار می شود و هویت انسانی از آنان گرفته شده است.
