Reports indicate that on 18 Dey (January 8), while he was on the street merely to do some shopping, he was targeted with a pellet gun and then went to Firuzkuh Hospital for treatment.
A few hours after his return home, security forces raided his house and arrested him. Sources close to the family believe that Hamidreza Vatani may have been identified through his visit to the hospital.
Hamidreza Vatani, a special inspector for the Children's Support Association, was abducted in Firouzkouh on 9 January 2026 after returning from the hospital. Reports indicate that he has been subjected to torture for a forced confession and is facing charges of rebellion and conspiracy against national security. There is a serious risk of execution for him.
