Mashallah Karami, the father of Mohammad Mehdi Karami, and the family's lawyer, Amir Hossein Kouhkan, have been arrested.
On 31 August 2023, the father of Mohammad Mehdi Karami, who was among those executed in the "Karaj Highway" case, was arrested when security forces entered his home. It has been reported that the security forces took electronic devices such as laptops and mobile phones belonging to the Karami family.
Following the arrest of Mashallah Karami, the family's lawyer was also detained.
It is reported that a new wave of arrests targeting families seeking justice and civil activists has begun.

در 31 مرداد 1402، پدر محمدمهدی کرمی که از متهمان اعدام شده در پرونده "اتوبان کرج" بود، با ورود ماموران امنیتی به خانه اش بازداشت شد. گزارش شده است که ماموران امنیتی وسایل الکترونیکی مانند لپ تاپ و تلفن همراه خانواده کرمی را با خود برده اند.
پس از بازداشت ماشالله کرمی، وکیل این خانواده نیز دستگیر شده است.
