On January 7 2018 at 6 a.m. one of the service prisoners at Evin Prison shouted in worry and fear that there was a corpse there. Sina Ghanbari aged 22 was arrested during the first week of the 2018 protests on December 31 2017 at one of Tehrans metro stations along with 21 others by security forces and was transferred to the quarantine section of Ward 4 in Evin Prison. Sina spent six days with other detainees of the December 2017 protests in the temporary ward. Based on the form Sina filled out upon entry since he did not have an addiction he was placed in the ward for healthy and clean individuals. At 6 a.m. on January 7 2018 a service prisoner found Sinas lifeless body in one of the prison restrooms. Mostafa Mohammadi the DirectorGeneral of Tehran Prisons announced the cause of death as "suicide by hanging in the prison restroom." However a CCTV camera was installed in the restroom and authorities claimed the camera was broken and did not record any footage providing no evidence of suicide to the family. Alireza Rahimi a member of the investigative committee following the December 2017 arrests stated that he had seen the CCTV footage of the restroom and there was no scene of suicide. They only saw Sina Ghanbari entering one of the restrooms at 3 a.m. with a long black plastic bag in his hand. Nothing happened in the restroom area for a long time until about two hours later when a service prisoner opened the door of the same restroom where Sina had been and found his body on the ground. Mahmoud Masoumi Sinas cellmate said there was no place to hang a rope or hang oneself in that restroom except for the siphon pipe which was one meter above the ground making it unlikely for someone to hang themselves while sitting. He mentioned that as soon as the service prisoner shouted the guard officer arrived and then with one of the detainees who introduced himself as medical staff they went inside. When they came out they said Sina had suffocated with plastic and had been dead for about two hours. The service prisoner who was nonpolitical had seen Sinas body before any tampering or moving but was shocked and did not speak to anyone. That same day he and the medical assistant were transferred to another ward. Hassan Norouzi spokesperson for the Judiciary and Legal Commission of the Parliament responded to the question of how Sina Ghanbari committed suicide in the restroom given that there was no rod hanging from the ceiling by saying that in every 10000 cases of suicide there is one case of a peculiar nature and Sina committed suicide in this way. In the testimony of Sinas cellmate it is mentioned that on January 6 Sina had severe fever and chills and by around 8 p.m. his restlessness worsened and he writhed in pain from his bones. He was taken to the quarantine wards medical staff room: "When Sina returned the right side of his face was red and bruised he was speaking with difficulty and said he had been beaten and forcibly given pills. In recent protests the forced administration of strange pills by the authorities has not been unprecedented. The authorities have never been honest with the people and have been taking the valuable lives of our compatriots with lies for years. Sinas death like that of many young protesters and political prisoners remains shrouded in mystery. After a year Sinas mother also stated that her son was killed."

۱۷ دی 1396 ساعت ۶ صبح یکی از زندانیان خدماتی اوین نگران و هراسان فریاد زد یه جنازه اینجاست!!
سینا قنبری ۲۲ساله در هفته اول اعتراضات سال ۹۶در تاریخ ۱۰ دی در یکی از ایستگاههای متروی تهران به همراه ۲۱ نفر دیگر توسط نیروی های امنیتی بازداشت و به قرنطینه بند ۴ زندان اوین منتقل شد.سینا ۶ روز کنار سایر بازداشت شدگان اعتراضات دی ۹۶ در بند موقت بود.وقت ورود براساس فرمی که سینا پر کرده بودچون اعتیاد نداشت به بند افراد سالم و پاک رفت .ساعت ۶ بامداد روز ۱۷دی سال ۹۶یکی از زندانیان خدماتی پیکر بی جان سینا را در یکی از دستشوییهای زندان میبیند.مصطفی محبیمدیرکل زندانهای تهران علت مرگش را «خودکشی از طریق حلق آویزکردن خود در دستشویی زندان» اعلام کرد. اما در سالن دستشویی دوربین مداربسته نصب شدهو مقامات با این ادعا که دوربین سالن دستشویی خراب بوده و تصویری را ضبط نکرده هیچ مدرکی دال بر خودکشی به خانواده ارایه نکردند.اما علیرضا رحیمیاز اعضای هیات تحقیق نمایندگان کمیته پیگیری بازداشت های دی ۹۶ گفته که فیلم دوربین مداربسته دستشویی بند را دیده است! و در آن فیلمصحنه خودکشی وجود ندارد و آنها فقط سینا قنبری را دیده اند که ساعت ۳ بامداد در حالی که یک کیسه پلاتیکی بلند مشکی در دستش داشتهوارد یکی از سرویس های بهداشتی می شود.بعد برای مدت طولانی اتفاقی در محوطه سرویس ها نمیفتد تا اینکه حدود دوساعت بعد یکی از زندانیان خدماتی درب همان سرویسی را که سینا در ان بوده باز میکند و با جسد او بر زمین مواجه میشود.محمود معصومی هم بندی سینا میگوید در ان دستشویی جز لوله سیفون که یک متر از سطح زمین ارتفاع دارداصلا مکانی برای آویزان کردن طناب یا حلق آویز کردن وجود ندارد و بعید است کسی بتواند خودش را نشسته دار بزند.او میگوید:به محض فریاد کشیدن زندانی خدماتیافسر نگهبان رسید و بعد با یکی از بازداشتی ها که خودش را کادر درمان معرفی کرد به داخل رفتند و بعد که بیرون امد گفت سینا با پلاستیک خفه شده و حدود ۲ ساعت از مرگش میگذرد.زندانی خدماتی که مالی و غیرسیاسی بود پیکر سینا را قبل از دستکاری و جابجایی دیده بود اما شوکه بود و با کسی صحبت نکرد و همان روز او و کمک پزشک به بند دیگری منتقل شدند.حسن نوروزی سخنگوی کمیسیون قضایی و حقوقی مجلس در پاسخ به این پرسش که سینا قنبری چگونه در دستشویی خودکشی کرده چون میله ای به سقف آویزان نبوده می گوید در هر ۱۰ هزار مورد خودکشییک مورد حالت آفتاب مهتاب وجود دارد و سینا اینگونه خودکشی کرده.در شهادتنامه هم بندی سینا امده:سینا صبح ۱۶ دی تب و لرز شدیدی کرد و نزدیک ساعت ۸شب بود که بی تابی سینا شدیدتر شد و از درد استخوان هایش به خودش می پیچید.او را به اتاق کادر بند قرنطینه بردند: «وقتی سینا برگشت سمت راست صورت سینا سرخ و کبود بود ک به سختی صحبت میکرد و گفت کتکم زدند و به زور قرص به من دادند.در اعتراضات اخیر هم خوراندن قرص های عجیب توسط ج ا بی سابقه نبوده.ج ا هرگز با مردم صادق نبوده و با دروغ سالهاست که جان باارزش هموطنانمان را میگیرد.مرگ سینا هم مانند بسیاری از جوانان معترض و زندانیان سیاسیهنوز در هاله ای از ابهام است.مادر سینا هم بعد از یکسال گفته پسرم را کشته اند.
