Raoufeh Mirbagheri

According to Human Rights in Iran, on Wednesday, October 10, 2024, in recent days, Raoufeh Mirbagheri, a political prisoner, was released after completing her prison term under judicial supervision and returned her ankle monitor to the Execution of Sentences Branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Sari.

According to a person close to this political prisoner's family, in an interview with the Human Rights reporter in Iran: "Ms. Mirbagheri, considering that she spent part of her imprisonment in the prisons of Tonekabon and Sari, had about 6 months of her sentence converted to judicial supervision. After completing her imprisonment under judicial supervision and visiting the Execution of Sentences Branch, she received her release order."

This citizen, who protested against the mandatory hijab, was summoned to the prosecutor's office on February 10, 2024, with a written notice to serve her discretionary prison sentence. On February 17, 2024, after visiting the Execution of Sentences Branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Shahsavar County, she was arrested and transferred to the county's prison.

Raoufeh Mirbagheri was arrested by security forces on October 26, 2022, in Tonekabon County, a part of Mazandaran Province, and was transferred to the detention center of one of the security agencies for interrogation and case formation. She was later released on bail.

With the start of the judicial process, Raoufeh Mirbagheri was tried by the judge of the Revolutionary Court in Sari, the capital of Mazandaran Province. She was sentenced to 8 months of discretionary imprisonment on the charge of "propaganda activities against the regime" and, as a supplementary punishment, was also sentenced to a 2-year ban on leaving the country and a 2-year ban on membership in political, social, and cultural groups, parties, and associations.
