Hakop Ghochoumian, a resident of Armenia, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Tehran Province Court of Appeal on 30 May 2024. He was convicted on charges of conducting educational and promotional activities contrary to Islamic laws and acting against national security. Previously, the Tehran Revolutionary Court had also sentenced him to the same term for the same charges.
The hearing for his charges took place on 5 March 2024. On 15 August 2023, Hakop Ghochoumian and his wife were arrested at a party in the city of Pardis. Following his arrest, he was transferred to Evin Prison and interrogated without access to a lawyer or his civil rights. His wife was also taken to the women's ward of Evin Prison and was released on bail after a single interrogation session.
In May 2025, Hakop Ghochoumian wrote a letter from prison highlighting violations of his rights during interrogation and imprisonment, including insufficient access to a lawyer and translator. He also claimed to have been threatened by Ministry of Intelligence agents. These have been reported as his allegations.
هاکوپ گوچومیان، ساکن ارمنستان، در ۹ خرداد ۱۴۰۳ توسط دادگاه تجدیدنظر استان تهران به ۱۰ سال حبس محکوم شد. وی به اتهام فعالیت های آموزشی و تبلیغاتی مغایر با قوانین اسلامی و اقدام علیه امنیت ملی محکوم گردید. پیشتر، دادگاه انقلاب تهران نیز وی را به همین اتهامات به همان میزان محکوم کرده بود.
جلسه رسیدگی به اتهامات وی در ۱۴ اسفند ۱۴۰۲ برگزار شد. در ۲۴ مرداد ۱۴۰۲، هاکوپ گوچومیان و همسرش در یک مهمانی در شهر پردیس دستگیر شدند. پس از دستگیری، او به زندان اوین منتقل شد و بدون دسترسی به وکیل یا حقوق مدنی خود تحت بازجویی قرار گرفت. همسر وی نیز به بند زنان زندان اوین منتقل و پس از یک جلسه بازجویی با قرار وثیقه آزاد شد.
در اردیبهشت ۱۴۰۴، هاکوپ گوچومیان در نامه ای از زندان به نقض حقوق خود در طول بازجویی و زندان اشاره کرد، از جمله عدم دسترسی کافی به وکیل و مترجم. همچنین ادعا کرد که از سوی مأموران وزارت اطلاعات تهدید شده است. این موارد به عنوان ادعاهای وی گزارش شده اند.
