Hassan Abbasi

According to news sources, on 31 August 2025, Hassan Abbasi, a journalist and social media activist from Kerman Province, was arrested at his home by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence. Some of his personal belongings were also confiscated.

Reports indicate that the agents raided the journalist's home, claiming actions against national security, and after searching and seizing personal items, arrested him.

Additionally, reports have emerged of the arrest of an individual in Hormozgan Province who was allegedly involved as a member of an international network.

Hassan Abbasi had previously been summoned and detained on various occasions due to his media activities and protests against different institutions. On 8 April 2025 and 9 July 2025, he was summoned on charges of spreading falsehoods, and on other dates, he faced various accusations, including insulting officials and spreading falsehoods in the press.

In the past, Hassan Abbasi had faced multiple complaints due to his revelations about illegal recruitments and other issues. He was summoned to court and charged on various occasions, including 3 November 2024 and 7 October 2024.

This journalist had been summoned to the prosecutor's office on various dates, including 10 October 2023 and 16 September 2024, due to accusations of spreading falsehoods and disturbing public order. He was also summoned and detained on similar charges on 14 July 2024 and 31 March 2024.

On 2 January 2024, Hassan Abbasi, along with two other journalists, was arrested and, after being charged with offences including publishing criminal content and spreading falsehoods, was released on bail.

On 6 August 2023 and 30 April 2023, he was summoned and detained on charges of spreading falsehoods and slander against officials.

Hassan Abbasi had been summoned by the police on various occasions, including 26 April 2023 and 17 April 2023, due to the publication of videos and reports on social media, where he presented his defence.

On 10 December 2022, he was summoned to the prosecutor's office and charged with spreading falsehoods. Additionally, on 22 November 2022, he was acquitted of charges of slander and spreading falsehoods.

On 31 August 2022, Hassan Abbasi was tried on charges of propaganda activities against the regime, and his case was referred to the Revolutionary Court. He had also been summoned on 6 September 2020 due to a complaint by the Kerman Intelligence Corps.

On 26 November 2019, Hassan Abbasi was detained for publishing a report on the performance of the Hormozgan governor and was later released.
