Manouchehr Bakhtiari, the father seeking justice for Pouya Bakhtiari, one of the victims of the November 2019 protests, has been sentenced to an additional 10 years in prison in a new case. According to the issued verdict, he has been sentenced to one year in prison for "propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic through media alignment with adversaries," four years for "inciting people to war and killing each other with the intent to disrupt national security," and five years for "sending videos to foreign virtual networks against national security."

Manouchehr Bakhtiari is the father of Pouya Bakhtiari, who was shot and killed in Phase 4 of Mehrshahr, Karaj, during the November 2019 protests. According to Manouchehr Bakhtiari, Pouya joined the protesters, along with his sister and mother, on the second day of demonstrations against the rise in gasoline prices. He was shot in the head and died before reaching the hospital.

On April 29, 2021, Manouchehr Bakhtiari was arrested by security forces, who reportedly beat him during his arrest at his home in Tehran.

He was ultimately sentenced by the Revolutionary Court to three years and six months in prison, two years and six months in exile, and a two-year travel ban. In July 2022, he was transferred from Karaj Central Prison to Choubin­der Prison in Qazvin.

On October 31, 2023, in connection with another case opened against him while he was imprisoned, Branch 1 of the Qazvin Revolutionary Court sentenced him to six months in prison. The sentence was upheld in full in late February 2024 by Branch 6 of the Qazvin Provincial Court of Appeals.

It should be noted that in late January 2024, in another case opened against him during his imprisonment, Branch 1 of the Karaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Seyed Mousa Asaf-Hosseini, sentenced him to 18 years in prison and 74 lashes. In early April 2025, Branch 1 of the Alborz Provincial Court of Appeals overturned the sentence and referred the case back to the Revolutionary Court for reconsideration.

After serving more than four years in prison, Mr. Bakhtiari was released from Choubinder Prison in Qazvin on Monday, September 29, 2025, and was sent to Bandar Abbas to serve his two-year exile.

While serving his exile in Bandar Abbas, Mr. Bakhtiari was arrested on January 19, 2026, on one of the city's streets. As of August 10, 2026, 203 days after his arrest in Bandar Abbas, he remains in legal limbo.

منوچهر بختیاری در تاریخ ۹ اردیبهشت ماه ۱۴۰۰، توسط نیروهای امنیتی همراه با ضرب و شتم در منزل شخصی خود واقع در تهران بازداشت شد.

وی نهایتا توسط دادگاه انقلاب به سه سال و شش ماه حبس، دو سال و شش ماه تبعید و دو سال ممنوعیت خروج از کشور محکوم شد. این شهروند در تیرماه ۱۴۰۱، از ندامتگاه مرکزی کرج به زندان چوبیندر قزوین منتقل شده بود.

در تاریخ دهم آبان ماه سال ۱۴۰۲، از بابت پرونده ای دیگری که در دوران حبس علیه وی گشوده شد، توسط شعبه اول دادگاه انقلاب قزوین به شش ماه حبس محکوم شد. حکم مذکور اواخر بهمن ماه همان سال ، توسط شعبه ششم دادگاه تجدیدنظر استان قزوین عینا تایید شد.

لازم به ذکر است، منوچهر بختیاری اواخر دی ماه ۱۴۰۲، از بابت پرونده دیگری که در دوران حبس علیه وی گشوده شده بود، توسط شعبه اول دادگاه انقلاب کرج به ریاست قاضی سید موسی آصف الحسینی، به ۱۸ سال حبس و ۷۴ ضربه شلاق محکوم شد. حکم مذکور اوایل اردیبهشت ماه ۱۴۰۴، توسط شعبه یک دادگاه تجدیدنظر استان البرز نقض و پرونده وی جهت رسیدگی مجدد به دادگاه انقلاب ارجاع داده شد.

وی پس از تحمل بیش از چهار سال حبس، دوشنبه ۷ مهرماه ۱۴۰۴، از زندان چوبیندر قزوین آزاد و جهت اجرای حکم دو سال تبعید به شهرستان بندرعباس اعزام شد.

آقای بختیاری در حالی که دوران تبعید خود را در بندرعباس سپری می کرد، در تاریخ ۲۹ دی ماه ۱۴۰۴ در یکی از خیابان های این شهر بازداشت شد. وی با گذشت ۲۰۳ روز از زمان بازداشت در بندرعباس، کماکان در وضعیت بلاتکلیف به سر می برد.
