On Tuesday, July 24, 2024, it was reported that Masoud Akbari, born in March 1987, a poet, writer, and activist in the field of theater and makeup, is serving his prison sentence as a political prisoner in Evin Prison.
A source close to the family of this political prisoner stated that since Masoud Akbari's arrest, there has been a series of judicial violations in his case. These include him being beaten at the time of arrest, being denied access to a lawyer, and facing fabricated charges.
The informed individual further added that Masoud Akbari's personal belongings, confiscated at the time of his arrest, were claimed to be missing by the Revolutionary Guards' intelligence, and the rest have not been returned to his family. They approached the Evin Prison prosecutor's office to defend his status. Even his personal car was found after about five months of effort in an unnamed government parking lot, severely damaged in various parts, with no one taking responsibility for the damages. The family was charged about 7 million tomans for the car's release.
It is noteworthy that Masoud Akbari was arrested on September 16, 2023, near Tajrish Square in Tehran, accompanied by beating, by security forces. Until September 19 of the same year, he was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture and then transferred to a secret detention house of the Revolutionary Guards' intelligence in Tehran. There, he underwent various interrogations and torture, including white torture, and was deprived of access to hygiene items, sufficient food, water, adequate outdoor time, and phone contact with his family. In late November 2023, he was transferred to Ward 4 of Evin Prison.
With the start of legal proceedings, Masoud Akbari was tried by a judge of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of "illegal possession of weapons and military ammunition," "membership in groups aiming to disrupt national security," "assembly and collusion to commit crimes against internal and external security," and "effective activity and effort to advance the goals of groups that have taken up arms against the Islamic government." He was sentenced to five years in prison for "assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security" and four years for "illegal possession of weapons and military ammunition," while being acquitted of other charges.
At the same time, a bail of 1 billion tomans was set by the judge of the Tehran Revolutionary Court for his release. However, due to the inability to provide it, he remained in temporary detention with an uncertain status.

به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران در سه شنبه ۲ مرداد ماه ۱۴۰۳، مسعود اکبری، متولد: فروردین ماه ۱۳۶۶، شاعر، نویسنده و از فعالان عرصه تئاتر و گریم، زندانی سیاسی محبوس در زندان اوین، در حال سپری کردن دوران حبس تعزیری خود است.
به نقل از یک فرد نزدیک به خانواده این زندانی سیاسی در گفتگو با گزارشگر حقوق بشر در ایران:”از روزی که مسعود اکبری بازداشت شده تا به امروز مجموعه ای از نقض قوانین قضایی در پرونده او رخ داد که از جمله این موارد، ضرب و شتم او هنگام دستگیری، محرومیتش از حق دسترسی به وکیل و پرونده سازی با اتهامات واحی بخشی از این موارد است.”
این فرد مطلع در ادامه افزود:”لوازم شخصی مسعود اکبری که از وی هنگام بازداشت توقیف شده بود بنا بر ادعای اطلاعات سپاه پاسداران، مفقود شده و مابقی تاکنون به خانواده این زندانی سیاسی تحویل نشده است. . آنها به دفاعیات برای تعیین وضعیت این اقلان به دادسرای زندان اوین، مراجعه کردند. حتی اتومبیل شخصی وی بعد از حدود ۵ ماه دوندگی در یک پارکینگ بی نام و نشان دولتی در حالی پیدا شد که دچار آسیب های شدید در نقاط مختلف بدنه شده بود. ضمن اینکه هیچ کس مسئولیت این صدمات را نپذیرفت و برای ترخیص اتومبیل مبلغ حدود ۷ میلیون تومان هم از خانواده ما دریافت شد.”
لازم به اشاره است، مسعود اکبری، در تاریخ ۲۵ شهریور ماه ۱۴۰۲، در محدوده میدان تجریش تهران، توام با ضرب و شتم، توسط ماموران امنیتی، دستگیر و تا تاریخ ۲۸ شهریور ماه همان سال به شدت تحت انواع موارد شکنجه فیزیکی و روحی قرار گرفت و سپس به یکی از خانه های امن اطلاعات سپاه پاسداران، در تهران، منتقل و تحت انواع موارد بازجویی ها و شکنجه ها از جمله شکنجه سفید قرار گرفت و طی آن مدت از حق دسترسی لوازم بهداشنی، غذای کافی، آب، هواخوری کافی و دسترسی به تماس تلفنی با خانواده خود محروم شده بود و اواخر آبان ماه ۱۴۰۲، به باندرزگاه ۴ زندان اوین، منتقل شد.
با آغاز مراحل دادرسی، مسعود اکبری، توسط قاضی شعبه دادگاه انقلاب تهران، از بابت اتهام «نگهداری اسلحه ومهمات جنگی بصورت غیرمجاز»، «عضویت در دسته یا جمعیت یا شبه جمعیت هایی که در داخل کشور با هدف برهم زدن امنیت کشور»، «اجتماع وتبانی برای ارتکاب جرم بر ضد امنیت داخلی وخارجی» و «فعالیت وتلاش موثر برای پیشبرد اهداف گروه هایی که در برابر حکومت اسلامی قیام مسلحانه کرده و مرکزیت آنها باقیست»، محاکمه و از بابت اتهام «اجتماع و تبانی به قصد ارتکاب جرم علیه امنیت کشور» به تحمل ۵ سال حبس تعزیری و به اتهام «نگهداری اسلحه و مهمات جنگی بصورت غیرمجاز» هم به تحمل ۴ سال حبس تعزیری، محکوم شد و از سایر اتهامات هم تبرئه شد.
همان زمان، توسط قاضی شعبه دادگاه انقلاب تهران، برای آزادی وی وثیقه ای به مبلغ ۱ میلیارد تومان صادر شد اما با توجه به ناتوانی در تامین آن، با وضعیت بلاتکلیف در بازداشت موقت ماند.
