Anoushirvan Lotfi, a leftist activist and a prominent political prisoner during the Shah's era, was a senior member of the Organization of Iranian People's Fedai Guerrillas. He had been arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment twice-in 1971 and 1974-during the Pahlavi regime.
Following the revolution, Lotfi was arrested again in 1983. Five years later, on May 27, 1988, he was executed alongside other political prisoners at Evin Prison and buried at Khavaran.
He had been a student at the University of Tehran's Faculty of Engineering; he married in 1981, and his daughter, Khatereh, was born while he was in Evin Prison.
