Adel Motalebnejad

Adel Matlabi Nejad, a father of a young daughter, was fatally shot in Baharestan, Isfahan. He was involved in interior design and decoration with wood and owned an MDF workshop in Baharestan.

Adel left his home on 8 and 9 January to participate in protests. On 9 January, his mobile phone was turned off, and he did not return. His family was unaware of his whereabouts for eight days and searched extensively during this period. A friend mentioned that they were separated in the crowd and had not seen him since.

After eight days, the family was contacted by Bagh Rezvan in Isfahan to identify a body. Only Adel's brother was permitted to view the body, while other family members were not allowed. The family also stated that his documents and mobile phone have not been returned.

According to the family, the bullet was fired from behind. The events between the date of his disappearance on 9 January and the recorded date of death on 9 or 10 January, as well as the retention of the body until notification, remain unclear to the family.

It has been reported that the family faced pressure from security forces regarding the release of the body and the holding of a ceremony, and they were required to commit not to hold a ceremony.
