Hamidreza Yari

Hamidreza Yari, a resident of Tehran originally from Kuhdasht, Lorestan, was killed on the evening of 9 January 2026 in Shahriar, Tehran, by a direct shot from a live bullet to the face. Reports indicate that security forces had not yet arrived at the scene when the shot was fired by a sniper positioned in the area. He died from the gunshot wound to his face, and his body was transferred to Kahrizak.

Hamidreza's family travelled from Kuhdasht to Tehran and identified his body after approximately eight hours of searching among the transferred bodies. His body was handed over to the family on 10 January 2026, and the burial ceremony took place on 11 January 2026 in Kuhdasht.

After the burial, individuals contacted the family, suggesting that he be registered as a "Basij martyr," reportedly accompanied by promises of financial assistance.

Hamidreza Yari worked in the distribution of cleaning products and, according to those close to him, did not have financial problems and had participated in protests. He was born in Kuhdasht but lived and worked in Tehran and had a childhood interest in wrestling. Those close to him have mentioned his love for Iran and the nature of the northern part of the country.
