Mahmoud Babaei was born into a working-class family in Aghajari.
To raise awareness and promote the organization's positions, he set up a stall to sell books, tapes, and periodicals, and distributed the organization's publications in working-class neighborhoods.
He was arrested on September 21, 1981 (Shahrivar 30, 1360), and-after enduring severe torture-was sent to the firing squad alongside forty other activists.
