Ehsan Faridi, a 22-year-old Azerbaijani student, has been sentenced to death by Branch 2 of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abdi, on charges of "enmity against God." The judge's evidence for this charge was based on reports from the Ministry of Intelligence. The appeals court upheld the initial verdict, and the case has been transferred to the Supreme Court following an objection by the lawyer.
Ehsan Faridi is a student of Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Tabriz. He was arrested on June 18, 2024, after being summoned to Branch 15 of the Tabriz Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office. Following interrogation by the Ministry of Intelligence, he was transferred to Tabriz Prison, where he is currently held in Room 3 of the quarantine ward.
Previously, Ehsan Faridi was arrested on March 8, 2024, and was temporarily released on bail after a month. The court had sentenced him to six months in prison on charges of "propaganda against the regime."
According to those close to the Azerbaijani student, the Tabriz Intelligence Office has severely threatened his family to prevent the news of his execution from being publicized. Additionally, out of fear that Ehsan might face difficulties upon hearing the execution verdict, the family has asked the lawyer not to inform him of the sentence, suggesting instead that the Supreme Court will issue a ruling. «احسان فریدی» دانشجوی ۲۲ ساله آزربایجانی از سوی شعبه ۲ دادگاه انقلاب تبریز به ریاست قاضی عبدی، با اتهام محاربه به اعدام محکوم شده است. استنادات قاضی برای این اتهام گزارشات وزارت اطلاعات بوده است. دادگاه تجدید نظر نیر حکم دادگاه بدوی را عینا تایید کرده و پرونده با اعتراض وکیل به دیوان عالی کشور منتقل شده است.
احسان فریدی دانشجوی مهندسی ساخت و تولید دانشگاه تبریز است. او ٢٩ خردادماه ١٤٠٣ پس از احضار به شعبه ۱۵ دادسرای عمومی و انقلاب تبریز بازداشت و پس از بازجویی در وزارت اطلاعات به زندان تبریز منتقل شده است و هم اکنون در اتاق ۳ بند قرنطینه زندان تبریز به سر می برد.
احسان فریدی پیشتر در روز ۱۸ اسفند ۱۴۰۲ بازداشت و پس از یک ماه، با قرار وثیقه به صورت موقت از زندان آزاد شده بود. دادگاه او را در رابطه با اتهام «تبلیغ علیه نظام» به شش ماه زندان محکوم کرده بود.
به گفته نزدیکان این دانشجوی آزربایجانی، اداره اطلاعات تبریز خانواده این دانشجوی آزربایجانی را به شدت تهدید کرده است تا مانع از انتشار خبر اعدام این جوان شوند. همچنین خانواده از ترس اینکه احسان پس از شنیدن حکم اعدام دچار مشکل شود از وکیل خواسته اند تا حکم را به موکلش اطلاع ندهد و بگوید که دیوان عالی کشور حکم صادر خواهد کرد و با همکاری وکیل احسان هنوز از حکم اعدامش خبر ندارد.
