Hasan Ronaghi

Hassan Ronaghi was arrested by intelligence officers in Tabriz and subsequently transferred to Maragheh Prison in East Azerbaijan Province after undergoing interrogation and questioning. He is the brother of Hossein Ronaghi, a civil activist imprisoned in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. It has been reported that Branch 12 of the Provincial Court of Appeal upheld a one-year prison sentence issued by Branch 102 of the Malekan Criminal Court. The charge in this case was described as "spreading falsehoods with the intent to disturb public opinion in support of the Zionist regime." Additionally, a sentence of several years in prison along with one year of exile to the city of Sarbaz, previously issued by the Malekan Revolutionary Court, was also confirmed without change by the Court of Appeal.

According to part of the published verdict, the charges against Hassan Ronaghi included publishing content in support of seeking justice for those who died during the protests in 2022 and using a specific hashtag on Instagram. The verdict stated that these actions were assessed as causing internal division and aiding the Zionist regime.

Hassan Ronaghi had previously spoken about the physical and psychological consequences of years of detention and imprisonment. He had stated that he was suffering from the autoimmune Guillain-Barré syndrome and other physical issues, and that his arrest and the actions taken in June 2025 had exacerbated his physical problems.

On Saturday, 27 September 2025, Hassan Ronaghi was released from Maragheh Prison after posting bail of four billion tomans. It was announced on his page that initially, judicial authorities had set the bail amount at 250 million tomans. His family provided this amount and awaited his release, only to later learn that the bail had been increased to four billion tomans.
