On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Hossein Ronaghi, a civil activist, was arrested in Tehran by security forces.
Arash Sadeghi, a human rights activist and former political prisoner, detailed this news on his personal page: "A few hours ago, Hossein Ronaghi was arrested. On June 17, 2025, Hassan Ronaghi, Hossein Ronaghi's brother, was also arrested with violence and transferred to an unknown location. There is no information available about the arresting agency or the whereabouts of Hossein Ronaghi and his brother."
It is worth mentioning that Hossein Ronaghi was previously arrested in the fall of 2022 during a widespread wave of citizen arrests amid nationwide protests. Initially, his home was searched by security forces, and some of his personal belongings were confiscated. He later appeared at the investigation branch in Tehran's District 33 Prosecutor's Office, where he was charged, arrested, and transferred to Evin Prison. After undergoing interrogation and being charged, he was released on bail.
During the investigation process, on November 26, 2023, Hossein Ronaghi appeared at the investigation branch in Tehran's District 33 Prosecutor's Office and was charged with "spreading falsehoods with the intent to disturb public opinion" related to the murder of Armita Geravand.
به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران، روز سه شنبه ۳ تیر ماه ۱۴۰۴، حسین رونقی، فعال مدنی، در تهران، توسط ماموران امنیتی، دستگیر شد.
آرش صادقی، فعال حقوق بشر و از زندانیان سیاسی پیشین با انتشار این خبر در صفحه شخصی خود تشریح کرد:”ساعتی پیش، حسین رونقی بازداشت شد. در تاریخ ۲۷ خرداد ماه هم حسن رونقی برادر حسین رونقی، توام با ضرب و شتم بازداشت و به مکان نامعلومی منتقل شده بود. از ارگان بازداشت کننده و محل نگهداری حسین رونقی و برادر او اطلاعی در دسترس نیست.”
لازم به اشاره است، حسین رونقی، پیشتر هم در پائیز ۱۴۰۱، همزمان با موج گسترده بازداشتهای شهروندان در جریان اعتراضات سراسری، ابتدا منزل وی توسط نیروهای امنیتی تفتیش و برخی لوزام شخصی وی توقیف شد و او چندی بعد به شعبه بازپرسی در دادسرای ناحیه ۳۳ تهران، مراجعه و پس از تفهیم اتهام، بازداشت و به زندان اوین، منتقل شد و پس از طی مراحل بازجویی ها و تفهی اتهام، چندی بعد با تودیع قرار وثیقه آزاد شد.
با آغاز مراحل بازپرسی، حسین رونقی، در تاریخ ۵ آذر ماه ۱۴۰۲، پس از مراجعه به شعبه بازپرسی در دادسرای ناحیه ۳۳ تهران، از بابت اتهام «نشر اکاذیب به قصد تشویش اذهان عمومی» مرتبط با قتل آرمیتا گراوند، تفهیم اتهام شده بود.
