Karamollah Soleimani

Karam Allah Soleimani was born on August 24, 1972 in Gachsaran, Iran. He spent his childhood and adolescence in this city until the end of high school. As a teenager, he became familiar with the political and social literature of Iran's leftist movements. This led him to spend some time in the Committee Prison with his father during the suppression of political forces in Iran in the 1980s.

Soleimani describes those days as follows: "My older brothers were supporters of the People's Fadaei (Majority Branch), they were politically active and lived in hiding. The Committee members detained my father and me to force my brothers to turn themselves in. They disrespected my father a lot in the Committee, he was a well-known person in the area. I still remember the pain and suffering my father went through those days, he had two broken parts in his body and I was sitting next to him in the cell."

Soleimani completed his education in the field of visual arts and handicrafts. During the 2022 uprising in Iran, while he had returned to Gachsaran after living in Tehran for several years, he was arrested and imprisoned in Qodusi Prison.

Soleimani began his career with poetry in the late 1990s and then entered the literature of storytelling, playwriting, and screenwriting in the mid-2000s. He first published the poetry collection "Bear Tears" in 2004. Then in 2009, he published the long story "Seasons in Purgatory" through Ahang-e-Digar Publications.

In 2012, he published the novel "Moistures" from Ahang-e-Digar Publications. This novel was among the finalists for the "Wow Prize" in the category of "Different Literature."

Upon entering Kashan State University, in the field of handicrafts, at the age of thirty-eight, he started theater work seriously with students and then simultaneously wrote and directed many plays outside the university. In addition to public performances at Kashan University, he has had numerous performances in independent theaters in Tehran in 2019, 2020, and 2021. According to Soleimani, the play "Ladybugs Around Revolution Square", which had taken months of rehearsal and preparation for public performance at Shahrzad Theater (Shahrzad Theater Campus), was canceled the night before the performance due to its focus on prison and execution.

In 2016, the play "Spring Horse", written and directed by Soleimani, was introduced to the Fajr International Theater.
