Simin Soheylnia

Simin Soheil Nia an IranianCanadian Christian convert returned to Iran on 14 September 2025 and was detained upon arrival. This return was prompted by her familys dire situation. Her father passed away after a period of illness in 2025 and upon learning of her mothers terminal illness she decided to return to Iran.

Prior to her return Soheil Nia had requested to serve the remainder of her sentence under house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor. This request was confirmed by sources related to "Article 18" but the ruling was not officially communicated due to the onset of conflict. She remains in prison and has not had contact with her family for several weeks.

Following her arrest she was initially transferred to Qarchak Prison. This facility was used as a temporary holding location for some prisoners due to the Israeli attack on Evin Prison during the twelveday conflict. On 11 October 2025 she was moved to Evin Prison along with other detainees.

Soheil Nia successfully reduced her sentence in two stages. Her initial sentence was reduced from six years to three years and six months. However despite the acceptance of her request to serve the remainder of her sentence at home she continues to be held in prison.
