بر اساس اطلاعات منتشرشده، جلسه رسیدگی به اتهامات آقای کمالی در اواسط اردیبهشت ماه ۱۴۰۴در شعبه ۲۶ دادگاه انقلاب تهران برگزار شد و در پی آن، حکم اعدام وی صادر شد. این حکم برای بررسی در دیوان عالی کشور ارجاع شده و هنوز قطعیت نیافته است. علی کمالی دارای اقامت کشور مالزی بوده و سال ها در این کشور زندگی می کرد. او چند روز پس از سفر به ایران، در تاریخ ۲۲ دی ماه ۱۴۰۴، در جریان اعتراضات سراسری در تهران توسط نیروهای امنیتی بازداشت شد. وی پس از پایان مراحل بازجویی به زندان تهران بزرگ منتقل شد و از زمان بازداشت در این زندان نگهداری می شود.

Ali Kamali, one of those arrested during the nationwide protests in January 1404, who is currently imprisoned in Greater Tehran Prison, has been sentenced to execution by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on the charge of "moharebeh" (waging war against God).
According to released information, a session to address the charges against Mr. Kamali was held in mid-May 2026 at Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. Following this session, a death sentence was issued for him. This sentence has been referred to the Supreme Court for review and has not yet been finalised. Ali Kamali had residency in Malaysia and lived there for several years. He was arrested by security forces during nationwide protests in Tehran a few days after travelling to Iran on 12 January 2026. After the interrogation process concluded, he was transferred to the Greater Tehran Prison, where he has been held since his arrest.
