According to Human Rights in Iran, today, Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Mehdi Behman, a writer and illustrator imprisoned in Evin Prison, was transferred to Loqman Hospital for medical treatment.
Quoting an informed individual speaking to the Human Rights reporter in Iran: "Mehdi Behman was sent due to his digestive disease, cardiovascular problems, and also problems with his knee and back, and after being transferred to Loqman Hospital in Tehran, some of his treatments were carried out. This dispatch occurred while he has been suffering from these diseases for a long time and has faced the negligence of the prison authorities."
It should be noted that Mehdi Behman was arrested by security forces on October 13, 2022, and after being transferred to the detention center of one of the security agencies and undergoing interrogation stages and understanding the charges in ward 209 of the Ministry of Intelligence, he was transferred to the general ward of Evin Prison.
With the start of the trial stages, Mehdi Behman was tried and convicted of "espionage" by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, the head of Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, in the winter of 2022, and this sentence was reduced to 5 years of discretionary imprisonment on appeal.
Mehdi Behman is a writer and illustrator, and his literary works include the illumination of books such as the Torah, Psalms, the Gospel, and Ezra. Among these books, the Book of Psalms is kept in the Library of Congress in the United States and the Book of Ezra is kept in Israel.
According to Human Rights in Iran, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Mehdi Bahman — a writer, literary activist, illustrator, and political prisoner held in Evin Prison — was released.
According to the report, Mehdi Bahman's release came after serving 3 years of a discretionary prison sentence.
به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران، امروز دوشنبه ۴ تیر ماه ۱۴۰۳، مهدی بهمن، نویسنده و نگارگر محبوس در زندان اوین، برای انجام کارهای درمانی به بیمارستان لقمان منتقل شد.
به نقل از یک فرد مطلع در گفتگو با گزارشگر حقوق بشر در ایران:”اعزام مهدی بهمن، به علت ابتلای وی به بیماری گوارشی، مشکلات قلب و عروق و همچنین، مشکلات مفاضل در ناحیه زانو و کمر بوده و پس از انتقال به بیمارستان لقمان تهران، بخشی ازکارهای درمانی وی انجام شد. این اعزام در شرایطی رخ داده که وی مدت طولانی از این بیماری ها رنج می برده و با بی توجهی مسئولان زندان مواجه بوده است.”
لازم به اشاره است، مهدی بهمن، در تاریخ ۲۱ مهر ماه ۱۴۰۱، توسط نیروهای امنیتی، دستگیر و پس از انتقال به بازداشتگاه یکی از نهادهای امنیتی و طی مراحل بازجویی ها و تفهیم اتهام در بند ۲۰۹ وزارت اطلاعات، به بند عمومی زندان اوین منتقل شد.
با آغاز مراحل دادرسی، مهدی بهمن، در زمستان ۱۴۰۱، توسط قاضی ابوالقاسم صلواتی ـ رئیس شعبه ۱۵دادگاه انقلاب تهران، محاکمه و از بابت اتهام «جاسوسی» محکوم به حبس تعزیری شد و این حکم در مرحله تجدیدنظرخواهی به ۵ سال حبس تعزیری محکوم شد.
مهدی بهمن، نویسنده و نگارگر است و در از جمله آثار ادبی وی شامل تذهیب کتبی از قبیل تورات، زبور، انجیل و عزرا است. از میان این کتب، کتاب زبور در کتابخانه کنگره آمریکا و کتاب عزرا در اسرائیل نگهداری می شود.
به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران، روز سه شنبه ۳۰ اردیبهشت ماه ۱۴۰۴، مهدی بهمن، نویسنده، فعال ادبی، نگارگر و زندانی سیاسی محبوس در زندان اوین، آزاد شد.
براساس این گزارش، آزادی مهدی بهمن، پس از تحمل ۳ سال حبس تعزیری صورت گرفته است.
