A human rights website reported on 23 February 2023 that Ebrahim Rigi, one of the detainees from the recent protests in Sistan and Baluchestan, was arrested by officers from Police Station 12 in Zahedan on 22 February 2023 after being released on bail. It was reported that he was killed as a result of beatings.
Ebrahim Rigi was reportedly arrested around 4:30 PM in the vicinity of Karim Pour Street and transferred to Police Station 12. His phone was turned off from the moment of arrest, and he was beaten at the station, leading to his death. Official sources have confirmed that Ebrahim died from beatings inside Police Station 12.
At 5:30 PM, forensic officers arrived at Police Station 12 and confirmed after examining the body that he had died due to beatings.
The deputy police chief of Sistan and Baluchestan province stated that Ebrahim Rigi was found unconscious in the back seat of a vehicle in poor condition, and the police officers informed emergency services. Emergency personnel, after examination, announced that he had been deceased for over an hour.
It was reported that the previous night, several individuals approached the gate of Police Station 12 in Zahedan with a vehicle, claiming that they had arrested Ebrahim Rigi on Karim Pour 23 Street and brought him to the station.
Ebrahim Rigi, a doctor in Zahedan, was among those who were detained on 13 October 2022 and released on bail on 1 January 2023. He was accused of assisting the injured during the events of Bloody Friday on 30 September 2022 in Zahedan.
Some official sources have stated that his death was due to beatings. Some Baluch activists claim that after his release and renewed political stance, he was attacked at the police station and died.
On 30 September 2022, protesters in Zahedan demonstrated, and the police fired upon them. A few days later, on 13 October 2022, it was reported that Dr. Rigi, who worked at the Social Security Hospital in Zahedan, was arrested by police officers.

گزارش شده است که ابراهیم ریگی در حوالی ساعت ۴ و نیم عصر در محدوده خیابان کریم پور بازداشت و به کلانتری ۱۲ منتقل شد. تلفن او از لحظه بازداشت خاموش شد و در کلانتری مورد ضرب و جرح قرار گرفت و فوت کرد. منابع رسمی تأیید کرده اند که ابراهیم بر اثر ضرب و جرح در داخل کلانتری ۱۲ جان باخته است.
در ساعت پنج و نیم عصر، مأموران پزشکی قانونی با حضور در کلانتری ۱۲ و معاینه جسد تأیید کردند که وی در اثر ضرب و جرح جان خود را از دست داده است.
معاون نیروی انتظامی استان سیستان و بلوچستان اعلام کرده است که ابراهیم ریگی در صندلی عقب خودرو در وضعیت نامناسبی بوده و مأموران انتظامی او را بیهوش یافتند و به عوامل اورژانس اطلاع دادند. عوامل اورژانس پس از معاینه اعلام کردند که بیش از یک ساعت از فوت او گذشته است.
گزارش شده است که شب گذشته چند فرد با یک دستگاه خودرو به درب کلانتری ۱۲ زاهدان مراجعه کرده و اعلام کردند که ابراهیم ریگی را در خیابان کریم پور ۲۳ دستگیر کرده اند و به کلانتری آورده اند.
ابراهیم ریگی از بازداشتیان ۲۱ مهر ۱۴۰۱ بود که در ۱۱ دی ۱۴۰۱ با قرار وثیقه آزاد شده بود. او به کمک به مجروحان جمعه خونین ۸ مهر زاهدان متهم شده بود.
برخی منابع رسمی مرگ او را بر اثر ضرب و جرح اعلام کرده اند. برخی فعالان بلوچ می گویند که او پس از آزادی و موضع گیری سیاسی دوباره، در کلانتری مورد حمله قرار گرفت و جان باخت.
ابراهیم ریگی، پزشک در زاهدان، از جمله کسانی است که گفته شده بعد از حوادث جمعه خونین زاهدان به مجروحان کمک کرده است. در تاریخ ۸ مهر ۱۴۰۱ ، معترضان در زاهدان تظاهرات کردند و نیروی انتظامی به سوی آنها تیراندازی کرد. چند روز بعد در ۲۱ مهرماه، گزارش شد که دکتر ریگی که در بیمارستان تأمین اجتماعی شهر زاهدان کار می کرد، توسط مأموران انتظامی بازداشت شد.
