یزدان افروغ قهرمان کشتی استان تهران شامگاه جمعه ۱۹ دی ماه ۱۴۰۴ در جریان اعتراضات مردمی و انقلاب ملی ایرانیان علیه جمهوری اسلامی در محله شادآباد تهران با شلیک مستقیم نیروهای سرکوبگر حکومتی کشته شد.
بر اساس گزارش های رسیده یزدان افروغ با اصابت دو گلوله جنگی به ناحیه قلب و شکم هدف قرار گرفت و جان خود را از دست داد. این کشتی گیر شناخته شده یکی از شهروندانی بود که در اعتراضات خیابانی علیه جمهوری اسلامی حضور داشت.
