On 1 August 2023, an individual was arrested by intelligence forces in Ahvaz. Following the arrest, the person was transferred to the central detention centre of the Khuzestan Intelligence Department for interrogation.
In July 2025, the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court addressed charges including corruption on earth, armed rebellion, membership in opposition groups, and propaganda against the system. The initial verdict included two death sentences and additional discretionary punishments. In November 2025, the Supreme Court upheld the two death sentences.
