The religious judge called Mr. Nasser Salimi and 10 others "corruptors of the earth" and sentenced them to death. At 4:30 p.m., they were taken to the execution site at Sanandaj Airport and stood before the firing squad. One of the defendants was terrified and "could not stand. The soldiers asked one of the prisoners to hold him down"; Mr. Salimi "placed his right hand on his chest. His hand was bandaged. According to newspaper reports of the time, he had been injured in a street fight." After the shooting, one of the judge's bodyguards fired a single shot at each of them.
