According to the report, on October 3, 2023, in recent days, Sakineh Parvaneh, a former political prisoner and civil activist, who is currently detained without a clear resolution in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, the capital of Khorasan Razavi Province, was sentenced by the judge of Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad to a total of 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
Based on the verdict issued by the judge of Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad, which was communicated to Sakineh Parvaneh in Vakilabad Prison, she was sentenced to a total of 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment for the charges of "assembly and collusion," "propaganda against the regime," and "insulting the leadership."
If this verdict is upheld in the Court of Appeals of Khorasan Razavi Province and Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code is applied, Sakineh Parvaneh will be required to serve 5 years of imprisonment.
A person close to Sakineh Parvaneh’s family stated in an interview: "This case was formed against her following Ms. Parvaneh's peaceful activities in cyberspace, and the court's ruling cited the publication of a video clip in which Sakineh Parvaneh is seen at the grave of Ali Mozaffari, one of the victims of the nationwide protests in 2022, as part of the accusations against her."
Additionally, the court session to address the charges against Sakineh Parvaneh was held in early September 2023 in Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad, while she was deprived of the right to access and have her chosen lawyer present, and she presented her defense to the judge alone.
It is worth mentioning that in mid-March 2023, while preparing to travel to Tehran, Sakineh Parvaneh was arrested by security forces. After being transferred to Mashhad and detained at a facility of one of the security agencies in the city, she was deprived of basic rights to access a lawyer or any legal consultation during the interrogation process and was transferred to Vakilabad Prison on April 14, 2023.
Several years ago, after ending her cooperation with one of the Kurdish opposition parties against the regime, Sakineh Parvaneh surrendered herself to Iranian forces at the Iran-Iraq Kurdistan border. Following her arrest, she was transferred to Tehran and held for 10 days in solitary confinement in Ward 209 of the Ministry of Intelligence located in Evin Prison, where she was interrogated and charged. She was then transferred to the women's ward of Evin Prison after posting a bail of 30 million tomans. On May 26, 2020, she was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Iman Afshari, to 5 years of imprisonment for the charge of "membership in groups or factions opposing the regime with the intent to disrupt national security," and as a supplementary punishment, she was also sentenced to a 2-year ban on membership in political and social parties and groups. This sentence was upheld by Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals. Sakineh Parvaneh, a political prisoner, was transferred from Evin Prison in Tehran to Quchan Prison on October 27, 2020, and then to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad on December 14, 2020. She was released in the late hours of Wednesday, February 15, 2023, following a directive from the judiciary applied to her case.
