Abdolkarim Shah Bakhsh, born in 1961, son of Noor Mohammad, residing in the village of Shuro in the Zahedan region of Sistan and Baluchestan province, was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents on April 4, 2009, on charges of "collaborating with Jundallah."
According to Abdolkarim Shah Bakhsh, he was a shepherd and encountered a group in the mountains who asked him for food and water, and he provided it to them "for the sake of God." However, after his arrest, intelligence officers tortured him to reveal the whereabouts of the people he had allegedly hidden.
One method of torture involved being tied to a "miracle bed" and enduring strikes with a cable or strap to the soles of his feet, to the point that his feet split and bled. Despite this, his feet were wrapped in plastic, and he was beaten again until he lost consciousness. He regained consciousness through resuscitation efforts and an oxygen mask.
Upon regaining consciousness, interrogators gave him a "pre-written" interrogation form, telling him that because he was illiterate, they had written down his innocence and he only needed to fingerprint it to be released.
After a month of interrogation at the intelligence office, Abdolkarim Shah Bakhsh was transferred to Zahedan prison. At this time, he learned from prison officials that his charge had been recorded as "collaborating with the Rigi group."
He mentioned to his relatives that when he heard this, his whole body went cold. The interrogators hadn't even asked him questions about it for him to respond.
Four months later, during a court session, he was again questioned about the people he "met in the mountains" and provided the same explanations as before, with no further questions asked.
Several months later, while "awaiting his release," he was informed of a 15-year prison sentence in exile at Ardabil prison on charges of "acting against national security through collaboration with Abdulmalik Rigi's group."
After being held for a year in Zahedan prison, on January 17, 2011, his prison sentence in exile was executed, and he was transferred to Ardabil Central Prison.
He recounted that upon entering Ardabil prison, it felt like entering a prison in a foreign country. Not knowing Persian, he struggled with the Turkish language. Initially, he faced significant difficulties due to the language barrier, unable to understand others or make himself understood.
