علی مطیری که ۱۷ اردیبهشت ۹۷ به دست نیروهای امنیتی در شهر «شیبان» استان خوزستان بازداشت شده بود، دیگر زندانی سیاسی در زندان اهواز بود که در تاریخ نهم بهمن ماه امسال اعدام شد. در زمان دستگیری خبرگزاری های نزدیک به سپاه پاسداران اتهام علی مطیری را عضویت در «داعش» عنوان کرده بودند. علی مطیری متهم شده بود که دو نفر از نیروهای بسیجی اهواز را در یک درگیری به قتل رسانده است. برخی فعالان حقوق بشر و هم بندی های این شهروند عرب ایرانی در بازداشتگاه گفته بودند که وی «تحت شکنجه فیزیکى و روانی قرار داشته و بعد از انتقال به زندان شیبان هم در انفرادى به شدت مورد آزار مسئولان زندان قرار گرفته است».علی مطیری در اعتراض به «ممنوعیت ملاقات و بدرفتاری مسئولان زندان» با دوختن لب های خود اعتصاب غذا کرده بود.. به گفته یکی از هم بندی هایش، این ورزشکار وقتی اتهام ها را پذیرفته که بیش از یک سال در سلول انفرادی نگه داری شده و بارها مورد بازجویی و شکنجه قرار گرفته بود. علی مطیری سابقه فعالیت در رشته ورزشی بوکس را داشت.

Ali Motairi was a political prisoner who was arrested by Iranian security forces in the town of Sheyban, Khuzestan Province, on 7 May 2018. He was executed at Ahvaz Prison on 28 January 2021.
At the time of his arrest, media outlets affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) accused him of membership in ISIS. He was also charged with killing two Basij members in Ahvaz during an armed confrontation.
According to human rights activists and former cellmates, Ali Motairi was subjected to physical and psychological torture during detention. After being transferred to Sheyban Prison, he was reportedly held in solitary confinement and subjected to further abuse by prison authorities. He also sewed his lips shut and went on a hunger strike to protest the denial of family visits and the mistreatment of prisoners.
According to one of his former cellmates, Motairi admitted to the charges only after being held in solitary confinement for more than a year and repeatedly subjected to interrogation and torture. Before his arrest, he had been an amateur boxer.
