Houshang Amirpour went to Italy in the early 1960s to continue his studies and joined the World Confederation during his participation in the student movement. Initially residing in Florence, he became active in organizing and soon transformed the Iranian Students' Organization in the city into one of the active units of the Confederation. After some time, Houshang turned to Marxist ideas and subsequently joined the Revolutionary Organization. Between 1969 and 1972, he was elected to the Confederation's executive board three times.
Amirpour led a commission of Confederation members to prepare a book about SAVAK, which was published by the World Confederation. Another significant action he played a key role in was organizing the Confederation's protests against the 2,500-year celebration of the Persian monarchy in Iran.
In 1979, he was elected to the executive committee of the Revolutionary Organization and later to the leadership of the Party of the Toilers of Iran. With the Islamic Republic regime's attack on the Party of the Toilers, he went into hiding in 1980 and was eventually arrested in March 1983. After some time, he was executed. His pregnant wife was also arrested, and their child was born in prison.
