Mehdi Imani is one of the suspects arrested in the case related to the death of Arman Ali Vardi in the Ekbatan complex in Tehran. According to reports, he was once arrested in November in connection with the same case and was then released on bail. However, following continued investigations in this case and the transfer of the suspects back to the intelligence department for further interrogations, he was arrested again and is currently in prison.

در ششم آبان ماه سال ۱۴۰۱، در جریان اعتراضات سراسری و پس از کشته شدن یک تن از نیروهای بسیج به نام “آرمان علی وردی” در شهرک اکباتان دستکم بیش از ۵۰ نفر از جوانان ساکن شهرک اکباتان توسط نیروهای امنیتی و انتظامی بازداشت شدند. از میان این افراد برای ۱۴ نفر از آنها کیفرخواست صادر شد. پرونده آنان به نام پرونده اکباتان مشهور است.

مهدی ایمانی، در تاریخ ۲۴ آذر ماه ۱۴۰۱، در تهران، دستگیر شد و در حالی که از حق دسترسی به وکیل محروم بود تحت بازجویی و سپس بازپرسی قرار گرفت و ابتدا به زندان رجایی شهر کرج و در تاریخ ۱۰ مرداد ماه ۱۴۰۲ به زندان قزلحصار کرج منتقل شد.
