مطهره احمدی در ۱۸ دی ۱۳۹۸، هواپیمای پرواز PS752 خطوط هوایی بین المللی اوکراین که از تهران به مقصد کی یف در حال حرکت بود، اندکی پس از برخاستن توسط موشک های پدافند هوایی سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی ایران مورد هدف قرار گرفت و سقوط کرد. در این حادثه، تمامی ۱۷۶نفر سرنشین هواپیما جان باختند. در میان قربانیان، وی به همراه مادر و برادرش حضور داشتند.
