در ۱۸ دی ۱۳۹۸، هواپیمای پرواز PS752 خطوط هوایی بین المللی اوکراین که در حال انجام یک پرواز برنامه ریزی شده از تهران به کی یف بود، اندکی پس از برخاستن از فرودگاه توسط موشک های پدافند هوایی سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی ایران هدف قرار گرفت و سقوط کرد. در این حادثه، تمامی ۱۷۶نفر سرنشین هواپیما جان باختند. محسن احمدی به همراه مادر و خواهر ش حضور داشتند.
