Loghman Moradi

On 8 September 2018, Zaniar and Loghman Moradi, two Kurdish political prisoners, were executed at Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj. The two individuals had been transferred to Ward 8 of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at Rajai Shahr Prison on 5 September 2018 for the execution of their sentences. Zaniar and Loghman Moradi were arrested by security forces in the city of Marivan, Kurdistan Province, on 4 and 5 August 2009. After spending nine months in solitary confinement, they were moved to Ward 209 of Evin Prison. Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced them to death on charges of enmity against God through actions against national security, membership in the Komala Party, the assassination of the son of the Friday prayer leader of Marivan, espionage for the United Kingdom, and disrupting security during the presence of Mr. Khamenei in Marivan. They denied the charges, stating that their initial confessions were obtained under torture. After appealing the sentences, the Supreme Court upheld the verdict on 9 July 2011, and the execution order was communicated to the execution department of Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj. Previously, Zaniar and Loghman's mother had expressed concern about the condition of her sons. Additionally, Eghbal Moradi, Zaniar's father, was assassinated in July of the same year in Iraqi Kurdistan, and Zaniar Moradi, in a letter to his mother, requested that she not seek revenge. Their families remain unaware of the burial locations of their loved ones.
