On August 16, 2023, security forces raided the home of Hooman Taheri, searched it, and confiscated some of his personal belongings, such as his mobile phone, before arresting the political activist.
On September 17, 2023, Hooman Taheri, a resident of Rasht, the capital of Gilan Province, was released on bail after being interrogated and charged, while he was detained without clear status in Lakan Prison, Rasht.
A source close to Hooman Taheri's family reported that his release occurred after he was charged in the investigation branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Rasht, with his bail set. The charge against him was cited as "propaganda activities against the regime."

۲۵ مرداد ۱۴۰۲ ماموران امنیتی، با یورش منزل هومن طاهری، پس از تفتیش و توقیف برخی لوازم شخصی وی از قبیل گوشی تلفن همراه سپس این فعال سیاسی را بازداشت کردند.
به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران، امروز یکشنبه ۲۶ شهریور ماه ۱۴۰۲، هومن طاهری، ساکن شهر رشت مرکز استان گیلان، محبوس و بلاتکلیف در زندان لاکان رشت، پس از اتمام بازجویی ها و تفهیم اتهام، با قید کفالت آزاد شد.
به نقل از یک فرد نزدیک به خانواده هومن طاهری در گفتگو با گزارشگر حقوق بشر در ایران:”آزادی آقای طاهری، پس از تفهیم اتهام وی در شعبه بازپرسی دادسرای عمومی و انقلاب رشت و با تامین قرار کفالت صورت گرفته و اتهام وی(فعالیت تبلیغی علیه نظام) عنوان شده است.”
