Reza (Mani) Estavar, a resident of the village of Bazkiagurab in the Lahijan region, was killed during protests in Tehran on 8 and 9 January. However, due to the family's financial difficulties in covering the substantial requested costs, his body was handed over one month later.
According to informed sources, multiple wounds and injuries were observed on Mani's body at the time of its release at the mortuary. Nevertheless, the official documents listed the cause of death as "cardiac arrest."
It is reported that his family is under pressure to refrain from publicising information about him.
