Morteza Parvin was arrested on February 6, 2024, after intelligence agents raided his father's home in Ardabil province, searched and confiscated some of his personal belongings. He was taken to Ward 209 of the Information Ministry, located in Evin Prison, for interrogation and the formation of a legal case. From February 24, 2024, he went on hunger strike in protest of his continued detention and deprivation of the basic rights of a defendant. He ended his hunger strike following the judicial authorities' promise to pursue his demands, but he is still under temporary detention in that prison.
Previously, in August 2024, Morteza Parvin had been summoned by phone to the Ardabil province's Information Office and threatened with legal action after several hours of interrogation.
This civil national activist, residing in Ardabil province, was also arrested by security forces at his sister's house on October 24, 2023, and transferred to the detention center of one of the security agencies for interrogation. On October 26, he was transferred to Ward 16 of Ardabil Central Prison and was released on November 2, 2023, after posting a bail of 400 million Tomans.
Morteza Parvin is among the civil national activists who have repeatedly faced summons, arrests, interrogations, trials, and imprisonment sentences by the security agencies of Ardabil province due to their peaceful activities.
مرتضی پروین، در تاریخ ۱۷ بهمن ماه ۱۴۰۲، پس از یورش ماموران وزارت اطلاعات به منزل پدری وی در استان اردبیل و تفتیش و توقیف برخی لوازم شخصی اش، بازداشت و برای بازجویی و تشکیل پرونده قضایی به بند ۲۰۹ وزارت اطلاعات واقع در زندان اوین منتقل شده و از تاریخ ۵ اسفند ماه ۱۴۰۲، در اعتراض به تداوم بازداشت و محرومیت از حقوق اولیه یک متهم، اعتصاب غذا کرد و در پی وعده مسئولان قضایی برای پیگیری مطالبات وی به اعتصاب غذای خود پایان داد اما همچنان تحت قرار بازداشت موقت در آن زندان بسر می برد.
مرتضی پروین، پیشتر هم در مرداد ماه ۱۴۰۲، بصورت تلفنی به اداره اطلاعات استان اردبیل، احضار و پس از چند ساعت بازجویی، تهدید به پرونده سازی قضایی شده بود.
این فعال ملی مدنی ساکن استان اردبیل، در تاریخ ۱۲ آبان ماه ۱۴۰۱ هم پس از بازداشت توسط نیروهای امنیتی در منزل خواهر خود جهت بازجوئی به بازداشتگاه یکی از ارگانهای امنیتی منتقل و در تاریخ ۱۴ آبان ماه هم به بند ۱۶ زندان مرکزی اردبیل منتقل و در تاریخ ۲۱ آبان ماه ۱۴۰۱، با تودیع وثیقه ای به مبلغ ۴۰۰ میلیون تومان آزاد شده بود.
مرتضی پروین، از جمله فعالان ملی مدنی است که پیش از این هم به دفعات در پی فعالیتهای مسالمت آمیز خود از سوی ارگانهای امنیتی استان اردبیل با احضار، بازداشت، بازجویی، محاکمه و محکومیت حبس مواجه شده بود.
