On 8 January 2026, Arash Mousazadeh was shot directly on Nabard Street in Tehran, near the corner of Nankali. According to informed sources, a live bullet entered his body from the back, through the waist, and struck his heart. It was reported that a Basij base is located near the shooting site. Following the incident, Arash's body was taken to Mardom (Bahadari) Hospital. However, sources indicated that he had passed away before reaching the hospital.
On the morning of 19 January 2026, Arash's family and relatives identified his body at the hospital morgue. They were then informed that they should go to Kahrizak on 20 January 2026 to collect the body.On 11 January 2026, his family went to Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery to complete the burial arrangements, and he was laid to rest at approximately 5:00 p.m. According to those close to the family, they were instructed not to chant any slogans during the funeral.
Following the burial, representatives of the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs contacted the family and requested to visit their home. According to sources close to the family, they asked the family to state in an interview that Arash had been killed by "terrorists" and to recognize him as a "martyr." The family refused these requests and did not allow the representatives to enter their home. They also declined offers of financial compensation.

به گفته منابع آگاه، گلوله جنگی از پشت و از ناحیه کمر وارد بدن او شده و به سمت قلب آرش اصابت کرده بود. منابع می گویند در نزدیکی محل تیراندازی یک پایگاه بسیج قرار دارد. بر اساس این روایت، پس از تیراندازی پیکر آرش به بیمارستان مردم (بهادری) منتقل می شود. با این حال، به گفته منابع آگاه، آرش پیش از رسیدن به بیمارستان جان خود را از دست داده بود.
صبح روز جمعه ۱۹ دی ماه، ماه خانواده و بستگان آرش در سردخانه بیمارستان پیکر او را شناسایی می کنند. سپس به آنها اعلام می شود که برای تحویل پیکر باید روز ۲۰ دی ماه به کهریزک مراجعه کنند. خانواده روز ۲۱ دی ماه برای انجام مراحل خاکسپاری به بهشت زهرا مراجعه کردند و حدود ساعت پنج عصر، موفق به خاکسپاری او شدند. به گفته نزدیکان، از آنان خواسته شده بود که در مراسم هیچ شعاری داده نشود.
پس از خاکسپاری، افرادی از بنیاد شهید با خانواده تماس گرفته و خواستار حضور در منزل آرش شدند. به گفته نزدیکان، از خانواده خواسته شده بود در مصاحبه ای اعلام کنند که آرش توسط «تروریست ها» کشته شده و او را به عنوان «شهید» معرفی کنند. منابع نزدیک به خانواده آرش می گویند که، خانواده این درخواست را نپذیرفتند و حتی اجازه حضور آن افراد در منزل را نیز ندادند. همچنین پیشنهادهایی برای پرداخت پول به خانواده مطرح شده بود که آن ها رد کردند.
