Reports indicate that Sepideh Rashno, a civil activist opposing mandatory hijab, has been informed to present herself at Evin Prison to serve her sentence. Her sentence of three years and seven months is related to the Tehran BRT bus case in 2022.
In July 2022, a video circulated on social media showing a woman resisting a hijab reminder from another woman on a Tehran BRT bus, leading to passengers removing the person giving the reminder from the bus. Sepideh Rashno was identified as the woman opposing the mandatory hijab and was arrested on 16 July 2022 after the video's release. She was released on bail in September 2022 after her forced confession was broadcast.
In late February of the previous year, Rashno announced that her sentence of three years and 11 months had been consolidated from three cases, and she must soon report to Evin Prison to serve her time. Besides the BRT case, Rashno was sentenced to four months for publicising her suspension from university and fined 1.5 million tomans for appearing in court in her chosen attire.
Reports suggest that despite her six-month sentence in the second case being converted to a fine, judicial authorities insist on enforcing the suspended sentence in the BRT case. Rashno stated in June of the previous year that she was arrested on charges when she visited the prosecutor's office, transferred to Evin detention centre, and later released on bail.
The civil activist has mentioned being told during interrogation that removing her headscarf would endanger her. Charges against her were based on the argument that following certain individuals' pages indicated contact with them, and posting a single photo without a headscarf was seen as inciting corruption and immorality.
The writer and poet, who opposes mandatory hijab, previously reported new charges against her and stated she was summoned to Evin's prosecutor's office to defend herself against the allegations. About two weeks before this notification, Rashno posted a photo without a mandatory hijab on her Instagram, announcing that Alzahra University had suspended her for two semesters due to not wearing the imposed attire.
In July of the previous year, Rashno announced that no venue was willing to host her poetry book launch due to fears of being shut down. Her poetry collection, titled "The Tree is Her Name," reached its eighth print shortly after publication despite pressure from security agencies on booksellers to withdraw it.

در تیر ماه ۱۴۰۱، ویدیویی در رسانه های اجتماعی منتشر شد که مقاومت یک زن را در مقابل تذکر حجاب زنی دیگر در یک اتوبوس بی آر تی تهران نشان می داد و در نهایت مسافران، فرد تذکر دهنده را از اتوبوس بیرون کردند. سپیده رشنو همان زن مخالف حجاب اجباری بود که پس از انتشار این ویدیو، در ۲۵ تیر ۱۴۰۱ بازداشت شد. او پس از پخش اعتراف اجباری اش در شهریور ۱۴۰۱ با وثیقه آزاد شد.
رشنو اواخر بهمن سال گذشته اعلام کرد که حکم سه سال و ۱۱ ماه زندانش با تجمیع سه پرونده اجرایی شده است و باید به زودی خود را برای تحمل حبس به زندان اوین معرفی کند. علاوه بر پرونده بی آر تی، رشنو برای پرونده انتشار خبر تعلیقش از دانشگاه به چهار ماه حبس و برای پرونده حضور با پوشش انتخابی در دادگاه به یک و نیم میلیون تومان جزای نقدی محکوم شده است.
گزارش ها نشان می دهد که با وجود تبدیل محکومیت حبس شش ماهه او در پرونده دوم به جزای نقدی، مسئولان قضایی همچنان بر اجرای محکومیت تعلیقی در پرونده بی آر تی اصرار دارند. رشنو در خرداد سال گذشته اعلام کرد که پس از مراجعه به دادسرا با اتهاماتی بازداشت و به بازداشتگاه اوین منتقل و سپس با وثیقه آزاد شده است.
این فعال مدنی بیان کرده است که در اتاق بازجویی به او گفته شده که روسری درآوردنش به خطر می اندازد. اتهامات به او با این استدلال نسبت داده شده که چون صفحات افرادی را دنبال می کند، پس با آن ها در ارتباط بوده و انتشار تنها یک عکس بدون روسری مصداق دعوت مردم به فساد و فحشا است.
این داستان نویس و شاعر معترض به حجاب اجباری پیش تر از پرونده سازی جدید علیه خود خبر داده و گفته بود که از او خواسته شده برای دفاع از اتهام انتسابی، در دادسرای اوین حاضر شود. حدود دو هفته قبل از این ابلاغیه، رشنو با نشر عکسی بدون حجاب اجباری در اینستاگرامش اعلام کرده بود که دانشگاه الزهرا به دلیل نداشتن پوشش تحمیلی، او را دو ترم تعلیق کرده است.
رشنو در تیر سال گذشته اعلام کرد که هیچ مکانی به دلیل ترس از پلمب شدن حاضر نشده برای مراسم رونمایی از کتاب شعرش میزبان او باشد. "درخت نام اوست" عنوان مجموعه شعر رشنو است که در مدت کوتاهی پس از انتشار و با وجود فشار نهادهای امنیتی بر کتابفروشان برای جمع آوری آن، به چاپ هشتم رسیده است.
