محمدرضا مرتضوی، از زندانیان سیاسی دهه شصت که دوران محکومیت خود را سپری کرده بود و قرار بود در ۱۵ مهر ۱۳۶۷ از زندان آزاد گردد که ملاقات ها قطع شد و به گفته خواهر وی سه ماه بعد خبر کشته شدن وی به خانواده داده شد. در میان لوازم شخصی وی زیرپیراهنی ای که خونی بود و جای گلوله ها بر آن نمایان بود به خانواده تحویل داده شد و مدتها بعد با پیگیری خانواده مکانی را به عنوان سنگ آرامگاه به آنها دادند. با پیگیری های خانواده در سال ۱۳۸۰، گواهی فوت او را دریافت کردند.

Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, a political prisoner, photographer, parachutist, and rock climber in the 1980s, was executed without his family being informed during the mass executions of the summer of 1988.
Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, a political prisoner from the 1980s, had completed his sentence and was scheduled to be released from prison on 7 October 1988. However, visits were halted, and according to his sister, the family was informed of his death three months later. Among his personal belongings, a bloodstained undershirt with visible bullet holes was returned to the family. After persistent efforts by the family, they were eventually provided with a location for a memorial stone. In 2001, the family obtained his death certificate following further inquiries.
