Yadollah Mahmoudnejad, after converting to the Bahá'í faith, migrated to Yemen and returned to Iran in 1968 with his family. He initially resided in Tabriz and later moved to Shiraz, where he was a member of the local spiritual assembly at the time of his arrest.
Yadollah Mahmoudnejad and his daughter, Mona Mahmoudnejad, were arrested on 23 October 1982. They were initially held at a Revolutionary Guard detention centre and were separated there. Yadollah Mahmoudnejad was tortured in the Revolutionary Guard prison and later transferred to Adelabad Prison. On 12 March 1983, Yadollah Mahmoudnejad was executed along with Rahmatollah Vafaei and Tuba Zaerpoor. Mona Mahmoudnejad, who had previously been transferred to Adelabad, was executed three months after her father on 18 June 1983, along with nine other Bahá'í women.
یدالله محمودنژاد پس از پذیرش آئین بهائی به یمن مهاجرت کرد و در سال ۱۳۴۷ به همراه خانواده اش به ایران بازگشت. او ابتدا در تبریز و سپس در شیراز ساکن شد و در زمان بازداشت عضو محفل روحانی محلی شیراز بود.
یدالله محمودنژاد و دخترش، منا محمودنژاد، در روز ۱ آبان ۱۳۶۱ بازداشت شدند. ابتدا در بازداشتگاه سپاه نگهداری شدند و در آنجا از یکدیگر جدا شدند. او در زندان سپاه تحت شکنجه قرار گرفت و سپس به زندان عادل آباد منتقل شد. در روز ۲۱ اسفند ۱۳۶۱، یدالله محمودنژاد به همراه رحمت الله وفائی و طوبی زائرپور اعدام شد. منا محمودنژاد که قبلاً به عادل آباد منتقل شده بود، سه ماه پس از پدرش در ۲۸ خرداد ۱۳۶۲ به همراه ۹ زن بهائی دیگر اعدام شد.
