Prisoners in the women's ward of Evin Prison, following protests against the conditions of the ward and the behaviour of the prison officers and officials, have been deprived of family visits for three weeks.

Pakhshan Azizi a resident of Mahabad was arrested by security forces in Tehran on August 4, 2023 and transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

Pakhshan Azizi a Kurdish activist was deprived of access to a lawyer and the possibility of meeting with her family for a long time. After four months of interrogation she was finally transferred to the women's ward of Evin Prison on December 11 2023.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network also reported at that time that Pakhshan Azizi was subjected to physical and psychological torture by security interrogators to force her to confess to "membership in opposition groups."

پخشان عزیزی اهل مهاباد در تاریخ ۱۳ مرداد ۱۴۰۲توسط نیروهای امنیتی در تهران بازداشت و به بند ۲۰۹ زندان اوین منتقل شد. او مدت ها از حق دسترسی به وکیل و ملاقات با خانواده خود محروم بود و پس از چهار ماه بازجویی در تاریخ ۲۰ آذر ۱۴۰۲به بند زنان زندان اوین انتقال یافت.

گزارش شده است که پخشان عزیزی برای انجام اعترافات اجباری به عضویت در گروه های اپوزیسیون تحت شکنجه جسمی و روحی قرار گرفته است. او در اعتراض به این وضعیت و فشار برای پذیرش اتهامات و انجام اعترافات تلویزیونی به مدت چند روز دست به اعتصاب غذا زد و اعلام کرد که به مدت چندین سال به عنوان مددکار اجتماعی و مترجم در مناطق جنگ زده در کردستان سوریه فعالیت داشته است.

پخشان عزیزی فارغ التحصیل مددکاری اجتماعی از دانشگاه علامه طباطبایی تهران است و پیش از این نیز سابقه بازداشت داشته است. او برای اولین بار در تاریخ ۲۵ آبان ۱۳۸۸در گردهمایی اعتراضی دانشجویان کُرد دانشگاه تهران بازداشت شد و پس از چهار ماه با قرار وثیقه آزاد شد. او پس از مدتی از ایران خارج شد و در سال های اخیر در اقلیم کردستان عراق اقامت داشته است.
