در تاریخ 5 شهریور 1358، احسن ناهید، دانشجوی مهندسی پلی تکنیک تهران و شهریار ناهید، دانشجوی پزشکی دانشگاه تهران به همراه نه نفر دیگر در فرودگاه سنندج کشته شدند. گزارش شده است که این افراد به ضرب گلوله در جمجمه و بدن جان باختند. اتهامات انتسابی به این افراد شامل قاچاق اسلحه، تحریک به شورش و قتل بوده است. اعلام شده که پس از حدود 30 دقیقه، این یازده نفر به عنوان "مفسد فی الارض" شناخته شدند.
