On Friday, June 7, 2024, Ahmad Kahandel, a resident of Qom province, married with children, a religious dissident, and a follower of the Yamani movement, is serving his prison sentence in Langarud Prison, Qom. He is on a hunger strike in protest against repeated legal charges by the Special Clerical Court.
A source close to the family of this political prisoner reported that Ahmad Kahandel, a follower of the Yamani movement, is serving his two-year prison sentence in Langarud Prison, Qom. However, in protest against repeated charges by the court and the Special Clerical Court against followers of the Yamani movement, he has been on a hunger strike since May 18, 2024.
This religious prisoner was granted leave from Langarud Prison, Qom, on May 9, 2024, and returned to the prison on May 16, 2024, after his leave ended to continue serving his sentence.
It is noteworthy that Ahmad Kahandel was sentenced to two years of imprisonment for "acting against national security" by Judge Hossein Yazdankhah, head of Branch 103 of the Criminal Court 2 of Torbat Heydariyeh, in December 2018.
This religious dissident was arrested in August 2018, along with a group of other followers of the Yamani movement in Torbat Heydariyeh. After being transferred to the detention center of the General Directorate of Intelligence of Razavi Khorasan Province and undergoing interrogation and charge notification, he was released on bail.
Ahmad Kahandel is a graduate with an engineering degree from the Technical Faculty of the University of Tehran.

به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران، امروز جمعه ۱۸ خرداد ماه ۱۴۰۳، احمد کهندل، ساکن استان قم، متاهل دارای فرزند، دگراندیش مذهبی و از پیروان جریان یمانی و زندانی عقیدتی محبوس در زندان لنگرود قم، در حالی دوران حبس تعزیری خود را سپری می کند که دراعتراض به پرونده سازی های مکرر توسط دادگاه ویژه روحانیت در اعتصاب غذا بسر می برد.
به نقل از یک فرد نزدیک به خانواده این زندانی سیاسی در گفتگو با گزارشگر حقوق بشر در ایران:”احمد کهندل، از پیروان جریان یمانی است و دوران زندان ۲ ساله خود را در زندان لنگرود قم سپری می کند ولی در اعتراض به پرونده سازی های مکرر از سوی دادگاه و دادسرای ویژه روحانیت برعلیه پیروان جریان یمانی، از تاریخ ۲۹ اردیبهشت ماه ۱۴۰۳ در اعتصاب غذا است.”
این زندانی عقیدتی، در تاریخ ۲۰ اردیبهشت ماه ۱۴۰۳، از زندان لنگرود قم به مرخصی اعزام و در تاریخ ۲۶ اردیبهشت ماه ۱۴۰۳، پس از اتمام دوران مرخصی برای تحمل ادامه حبس به زندان لنگرود قم بازگشت.
لازم به اشاره است، احمد کهندل، در آذر ماه ۱۳۹۷، توسط قاضی حسین یزدان خواه ـ رئیس شعبه ۱۰۳ دادگاه کیفری ۲ شهرستان تربت حیدریه به اتهام «اقدام علیه امنیت ملی» به تحمل ۲ سال حبس تعزیری محکوم شد.
این دگراندیش مذهبی، در مرداد ماه ۱۳۹۷، به همراه جمعی دیگر از پیروان جریان یمانی، در شهرستان تربت حیدریه، دستگیر و پس از انتقال به بازداشتگاه اداره کل اطلاعات استان خراسان رضوی و طی مراحل بازجویی ها و تفهیم اتهام با تودیع قرار وثیقه آزاد شده بود.
