Babak Paknia, the lawyer for the defendant, has stated: "We will appeal the court's ruling regarding our clients in this case because I do not consider them deserving of such a sentence. Their actions at most fall under Article 610, which has been pardoned by the leadership, and a decision to dismiss the prosecution should have been issued. Furthermore, the charge presented to the defendants lacks a legal basis, and I hope the higher authority pays attention to these issues."
